Disney’s Riviera Resort: Final Construction Update

In what is surely the final construction update you’ll ever read regarding Disney’s Riviera Resort, yesterday we had the opportunity to swing by Caribbean Beach Resort and get the closest look we could at this new Disney Vacation Club property that opens in just eleven days!

Much to our surprise, when we arrived, the resort seemed to be bustling with activity. Cast Members could be seen around the pool area, as well as guests swimming and others walking the grounds of the resort. Upon inquiring at the DVC Kiosk in Caribbean Beach, we learned that cast members of the resort, as well as DVC guides and staff were previewing the resort ahead of its grand opening on December 16th. We also saw at least one family relaxing on a balcony at the resort.

While the closest we were able to get was the Riviera Skyliner station, there is very little, if any, construction noticeable at this point. The most prominent to us was one crane still lurking in the background.

Disney’s Riviera Resort features approximately 300 units and will be the fifteenth Disney Vacation Club property built. It’s completion and opening marks the end of two and a half years of work since the resort was announced at the 2017 D23 Expo, even before the opening of Copper Creek.

Let us know if you’ve got a reservation to be one of the first to visit Riviera, and what you are excited about the most for this new resort!

  • We can’t wait. We check into a two bedroom for two weeks over the holidays. We added on to our numerous contracts a total of 500 points at the Riviera. I am not worried at all about the resale restrictions.

    • Breakfast at Topolino’s on second day it’s open.

  • We will be staying over Marathon weekend in a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom. I can’t wait. We saw the video of the resort on the May DVC member cruise and were impressed.

  • We will be staying at beginning of new year. Deluxe studio with preferred view. No worries about our purchase for 300 points. Don’t plan on reselling. Currently own at polynesian and copper creek

  • We’ll be staying in a 2 bedroom suite at Riviera beginning 12/21.

  • No interest in staying here. I thought I’d love it, but no. Saw the models in November and they are missing some I can’t put my finger on. Additionally, having the resort border a major thoroughfare at Disney is not my idea of a great location. The idea of sitting in my balcony watching endless traffic does not appeal. Especially given the high point costs to stay here. Hard pass. Will probably be the one dvc resort I never stay at.
