UPDATE 3/21/20 – 3:30pm: Aulani Resort in Hawaii has announced that it will close March 24th at 5:00pm through March 31st. Disney is waiving change and cancellation fees for those dates as well as any other arrivals prior to June 30th.

Although you may find it extremely difficult to get there, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai’i remains open at this time to guests and Disney Vacation Club Members.

On Friday, Aulani issued an operational update stating that in order to adhere to local state guidance, certain resort offerings would be closed from March 20th through March 31st, 2020.

The resort first emphasized in their statement that they have increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing highly-trafficked areas and surfaces.

Also, in order to better protect its guests and cast members, Aulani announced the suspension of the following resort offerings:

The following events are also canceled at the resort until further notice:

  • ‘Ohana Disney Movie Nights
  • Aloha Fun
  • Shake-A-Shaka Pool Party

Additionally, operational modifications also taking place, include:

  • Off the Hook and Wailana Pool Bar will continue to be open with no bar seating. The poolside menu will continue to be offered from those locations via takeout service only.
  • Kālepa’s Store and Hale Manu boutique will limit the number of people allowed in the stores at any given time.
  • Pau Hana Room – Community Hall will remain open. However, all premium and free programming will be suspended.

Disney Vacation Club Members with reservations impacted by these closures will be contacted by the resort.

Despite remaining open, Disney Vacation Club is allowing members with upcoming reservations the opportunity to cancel according to their newly issued cancelation policy. This allows vacation points to return to their respective use year in a member’s account, and eliminates holding rules for the time being. DVC states that they are also further evaluating their policy on banked points and will make a determination once the full operational impact of this pandemic is known.

  • We canceled our trip to Aulani for March 21-28 earlier this week. Our concerns were in regards to many activities being canceled and not being able to fully enjoy the resort on our first trip to Hawaii.
