Amy and I are new Orlando, Florida residents where we live with our dogs Odie the greyhound and Hermès the Spanish galgo. We are DVC owners at Animal Kingdom Lodge, BoardWalk Villas, Grand Californian, Grand Floridian, and Polynesian, Disney World Annual Passholders, and love educating Disney Vacation Club members on how to both use and maximize the value of their DVC points!

  • Just an FYI, if you are just using current use year points that were booked at the 7 month point, and you have a June use year, I was told too bad. My reservation at the Polynesian is May 1-May 8 and if I cancel or get cancelled, if I can’t rebook within the following 23 days I am losing 187 points. Because June use year requires banking in January, I was told Disney is showing no mercy regarding this. So I can’t cancel and rebook in say, August or Sept. I have to eat those points. I don’t see how it can create a logjam because not everyone will be re-booking right away and it’s no different than regular booking. Either there’s availability or not.

  • Possibly but would I get them back to use ata dvc resort? We don’t stay at RCI resorts simply because we want to stay at a WDW villa. It’s my understanding that Disney controls the rules regarding points. They are usable at RCI resorts but RCI doesn’t make the rules
