Amy and I are new Orlando, Florida residents where we live with our dogs Odie the greyhound and Hermès the Spanish galgo. We are DVC owners at Animal Kingdom Lodge, BoardWalk Villas, Grand Californian, Grand Floridian, and Polynesian, Disney World Annual Passholders, and love educating Disney Vacation Club members on how to both use and maximize the value of their DVC points!
We initially bought at BLT thinking we were having children, and that this would be a great option close to MK and on Monorail Line. We have never had kids, so now I wish we had bought at AKL. Jambo House is my absolute favorite place to stay. Luckily we just need a studio and have been able to get rooms there at the 7 month mark, but I would love to be able to book concierge level there at 11 months! You should definitely buy where you want to stay! Still love our DVC no matter what.
Without a doubt, would’ve bought a small direct contract when you only needed 25 points for a blue card OR would have purchased resale earlier and been grandfathered in. I had barely heard of DVC when that was an option. Late to the party I guess.
We have always said, best purchase we ever did…I crave the Wilderness Lodge, smell of the pines walking in to the condos (Boulder Ridge) and the background music. Only change a few of the reservation rules, allowed to book earlier.
We bought back in 1994. No regrets then and none now. Over the years, we have enjoyed our membership tremendously and watched our children enjoy it. However, several years ago they offered us a chance to extend our DVC membership from 2042 to 2057. I wish we did that because now our daughters are giving us grandchildren. We want our grandchildren to enjoy Disney World as much and as long.
