Almost a year to the day, Amy Krieger wrote these words in a blog post on this site, “As I write this, I truly hope it’s the last time I publish anything with the words #Jambogate in it.”
So you can hopefully understand why I have decided to take the reigns on this one. Last I checked on Amy; she was in her office yelling at a small stuffed elephant after reading some posts on DVC Fan. I should probably check on her…
Well, ladies and gentlemen, #JAMBOGATE IS BACK!!! In a series of reports on both DISboards and within the DVC Fan Facebook Group, we have heard from multiple members who have been contacted by Member Services about upcoming reservations they have booked at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House.
Here is what we know, and just about all we know:
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House will reopen to all guests on Thursday – August 26th, 2021.
Earlier this week, Disney Vacation Club Members with reservations at Jambo House from August 1st thru mid-October began receiving phone calls from Member Services.
Guests are being informed that their room is unavailable due to “maintenance issues,” and they need to be moved to the resort side of the property. In some instances, this has resulted in guests who originally booked a One-Bedroom Villa being offered two studio villas as a replacement.
Your two options are essentially to accept what is being offered or have your reservation canceled.
The repairs or maintenance are not a part of any previously scheduled refurbishment and appear to involve exterior and fencing issues in the savanna overlook section of the resort.

At this point, that is all the information we have. I would like to believe that this is done for maintenance reasons as suggested, but I like a good conspiracy theory as much as the next fellow.
Let us know your thoughts as we brush the dust off of the #JAMBOGATE saga, and get ready for another round of fun! Also, please be sure to share details of your reservation and call with Member Services if you were affected by this unannounced closure!
