FIRST LOOK: New Refurbished DVC Bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Villas

With Disney’s Polynesian Resort now reopen, attention is turning to what we may see as part of the soft goods refurbishment set to begin soon on the Disney Vacation Club side of the resort. Today we’re excited to share a first look at one of the newly refurbished bungalows that give us a glimpse of what we can expect!

Current plans have Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows beginning its soft goods refurbishment in the coming weeks, with plans for the remodel to be complete before Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary on October 1st. Two primary questions have been at the front of DVC Members minds regarding this planned soft goods update:

  1. Will we see Moana theming like what has been injected throughout the new Polynesian hotel rooms?
  2. Will the couches be replaced with the pull-down Murphy Bed, similar to Riviera and Saratoga Springs?

Huge thank you to Dennis Chimelis, who recently checked into this refurbished bungalow and shared some photos with us on Facebook!

The bungalow’s most noticeable changes hit you in the living room with the addition of the pull-down Murphy Bed that replaces the previous pull-out couch bed. This is extremely exciting, as we can only assume this means we will see this same addition to all of the studio villas, as it makes the most sense given their recent popularity.

Other furniture appears to have been reupholstered with lighter teal, blue, and different tropical colors. New vibrant carpet inserts have also replaced the outdated grey and beige carpeting previously throughout the villa.

Other minor changes include adding several updated appliances, including a coffee pot/Keurig combo and other small touches throughout the bungalow.

Noticeably absent are any Moana touches, with Lilo and Stitch, featured prominently in a large painting on the new pull-down Murphy bed.

In March, Fiasco took us on a tour of a current Bungalow that provides an excellent comparison to highlight the changes made!

Let us know in the comments what you think of this refurbished bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Villas and what new touches you also hope to see incorporated into the studio accommodations!

The Villas at the Grand Floridian should have been ahead of any DVC work at the Polynesian considering it is a bit older (Dec 2013 versus Apr 2015 openings).

They moved Poly up to coincide with resort refurb. VGF and Aulani are supposed to also get refreshed this year as announced at annual meeting in Dec 2020 but may coincide with construction of new VGF wing opening next summer. Makes sense to combine construction.

I agree! GFV are looking a bit worn and really should be done first before the Poly Villas!
