Let’s be honest, any day of the year is a good time to be a DVC member. We enjoy our membership all year round, regardless of the month or what’s going on. But some days are just a little more special than others. These are our top picks for the best times of the year when being a DVC member really pays off.
EPCOT Festivals
For anyone who loves EPCOT festivals like we do, the best place to be during a festival-heavy trip is near the action or somewhere that you can get to EPCOT easily. This is where the EPCOT area DVC resorts come in. There is nothing quite like the quick walk or boat ride from Beach Club or BoardWalk over to EPCOT for a festival treat. Or perhaps a quick Skyliner trip from Riviera is more your thing. Being a DVC member at one of these resorts gives you easy access to some of the most sought after locations during festivals.
Special Event Nights
Continuing with our theme of proximity to the parks, being a DVC member during special event nights can make your stay more convenient. Heading to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party can’t get much easier than staying around the Magic Kingdom. I love being able to head back to my hotel on foot at the end of the night and avoid the transportation crowds. Bay Lake Tower, Grand Floridan, and Polynesian all make great options when you want to be close to Magic Kingdom. They are walkable to the parks (Polynesian being a little further of a walk), but also have monorail and boat transportation. If you’re hitting up an event at Hollywood Studios or EPCOT, BoardWalk, Beach Club, and Riviera are again great choices for their location near the parks.
Holidays
Each holiday brings something special to Disney. Being a DVC members during these festive occasions means you’re not paying a holiday cash premium for that resort or room. Maybe you’re excited about watching the 4th of July fireworks from your room at Bay Lake Tower or taking in all the Christmas decorations while staying at Wilderness Lodge. Having the points to book these fantastic resorts during the holidays makes being a member extra special those times of year.
Any Time You Travel with Family and Friends
When traveling with loved ones, it’s important to have more space. DVC members have some of the best options for larger groups. Regardless if you need a One Bedroom Villa or Three Bedroom Grand Villa, you have a variety of choices to meet your family’s needs. Larger accommodations on the hotel side of Disney can be very expensive when paying cash. Rest assured, as a DVC member, you will be able to use your points to get your family into a place to call home and stay together throughout your vacation. And if you don’t have enough points for that Grand Villa, I know a few people you can call.

Good article Amy. My first reaction was the best time to be DVC members is anytime October through April. The heat in the summer is a deal breaker for us. But that doesn’t stop us from spending 4-5 weeks a year there. Keep up the good work. Keeps us going while it’s too hot to visit.
