What I Appreciate About DVC Resorts

Before Paul and I became Disney Vacation Club members, the moderate resorts were our jam. When we decided to buy our first contract, we gained much dreamed of access to deluxe level accommodations we wouldn’t otherwise have. Even though we still love Coronado Springs and the other moderates, I have found many things to appreciate about staying at DVC resorts. Here are just a few:

Relaxation: DVC Resorts make me want to spend as much time as possible at “home”. Instead of a parks focused trip, we find ourselves making more resort focused trips. The pools and grounds are among the best, the activities are plentiful, but most of all, the villas are wonderful. They are larger than the hotel rooms, all have balconies or patios (which is my favorite amenity), and the kitchen or kitchenette gives us more flexibility. Want to bring back leftovers and reheat them later? No problem. Want to spend hours on our balcony people watching or relaxing in nature? Of course, we can.

Location: It’s no secret that the deluxe resorts are located in the prime real estate of Disney World. DVC members have access to some of the closest locations to the parks, including a handful of resorts within walking distance to EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, and even other resorts. If walking isn’t your thing, some DVC resorts offer water transportation, monorail, or Skyliner access. We love walkability, and anything to avoid the busses is a plus in my book.

Grand Floridian Walking Path

Grandeur: It’s hard to walk into the lobby of some of the deluxe resorts and not be in awe. The Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Wilderness Lodge lobbies are just downright impressive. However, the theming and beauty in all the deluxe lobbies is not something to be overlooked. When I walk into those resorts, it simply makes me excited to be a guest there. In addition, these resorts put on some of the best Christmas displays.

Views: As I mentioned my love of balconies above. Being a DVC member has supplied us with some of the best views we would probably not otherwise have. Since joining DVC, we have had the pleasure of experiencing savanna views, theme park views, water views, and more. We’ve watched Happily Ever After and Epcot Forever all from the comfort of our balcony. We’ve watched grazing giraffes and zebras, the monorail zooming by, and boats floating down tranquil waterways. I love the fantastic views that Disney Vacation Club has led us to experience.

I’m interested to know what you appreciate the most about DVC Resorts and if you were new to the world of deluxe resorts like we were before joining, how has it changed the way you enjoy Disney?

  • We, too, never stayed at Deluxe Resorts until we took the DVC plunge in 2017. We love everything you mentioned, as well as the pool areas. Nothing beats having the Boulder Ridge Pool as your SECOND pool option at CCV or BRV!

  • I’m with you on the wonderfulness of balconies.
I’m out there at least an hour every morning, drinking coffee and checking the internet on my phone. Plus plenty of additional time through the day and evening.
I’m always amazed as I look around at other villas how few guests take advantage of this amazing amenity.

  • As a DVC Member since April of 1992, it’s very hard for me to tell you how I feel. Myself and my family have enjoyed countless trips to Disney, and look forward to many more. Unless you have stayed in a DVC resort, it is impossible to know just how fantastic these resorts are. All are first class 5 star resorts, and define the meaning of luxury. The best comment I received, was from a friend of mine, who a few years back, took his family to Disney, and I booked them into a two bedroom villa for the week. Upon his return, he thanked me, and then proceeded to tell me how his wife literally cried when she went into the room, and checked it out. She told my friend she could not believe how nice this place was, and her tears were tears of joy for being able to enjoy a place that only the very wealthy enjoy. I have never gotten anything other that the highest praise from any person, friend or family member, who has stayed at any DVC Resort. This is what I appreciate. I am able to give, the ultimate Disney experience to them.
