Grand Floridian Magic Kingdom Walking Path Now Open

Grand Floridian Walking Path

The long-awaited walking path that connects Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to the Magic Kingdom is now open!

This long-awaited project has inched along throughout the year. It now provides an alternative method of transportation for guests at both The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.

We’ve heard multiple reports from many DVC Fan members who have enjoyed the path over the past two days.

The walking path area is fully lit, allowing it to be utilized both day and night. After exiting the path, guests will enter the security and temperature screening that is now part of the new Magic Kingdom Boat Dock area.

We ran a few quick numbers on Google Maps and estimate the paths length to be the following:

– Grand Floridian Villas to Magic Kingdom: Approximately 0.75 miles

– Polynesian Villas to Magic Kingdom: Approximately 1.30 miles

This new transportation method is a huge added value to guests staying at the Grand Floridian or Polynesian. Walkability has always been a big factor for many Disney Vacation Club owners. This is one of the best enhancements to WDW in years. As a DVC owner at VGF, we have always dreamed of this in hopes of avoiding the transportation chaos that occurs when the Magic Kingdom closes that never fails to diminish the joy of the kiss goodnight. VGF has always been the crown jewel with level of service, quality of the accommodations and outstanding dining, but this makes it even more appealing. This also improves the experience for those not staying at the Grand Floridian because it will eliminate most Grand Floridian guests from the monorail.

Will a person be able to walk around the entire lake? Or is it not a full loop now?

You cannot do a full loop… basically you can start at the Polynesian or TTC and walk all the way to Magic Kingdom and then back. You could theoretically then continue on the separate path towards Bay Lake Tower but that does not connect back to the TTC.
