2023 Points Charts Provide Insights into New Resort Studios at Grand Floridian

Grand Floridian DVC

Earlier this year, Disney announced that Big Pine Key (Building 9) at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa would be converted from hotel rooms to 200 Resort Studios as an expansion of The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  With the release of the 2023 point charts, we learned more details about the Resort Studios.

There Are 3 Booking Categories for Resort Studios

For Resort Studios, there are Standard, Lake, and Theme Park Views available.  With points per night ranging from 24 to 54, the Theme Park View Resort Studio is now the most costly studio among the DVC resorts.  Whether this high point value is warranted or not will be interesting to find out.  To put this in perspective, Theme Park View Deluxe Studios at Bay Lake Tower max out at 38 points per night.

Point Values Are Similar to Those in the Original Building

2023 Points Chart for the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

The chart shows that the Standard View and Lake View Resort Studios have the same point values as their Deluxe Studio counterparts in the original Grand Floridian DVC building.  This is rather surprising since it has been confirmed that the Resort Studios will not have kitchenettes like the Deluxe Studios do.  Instead, they will have a beverage center with a beverage cooler (not the usual mini-fridge) and coffee maker.  On the flip side, the Resort Studios will be slightly larger at 440 square feet and have two queen-size beds and a day bed. By contrast, the Deluxe Studios are 374 square feet and have one queen-size bed, one queen-size Murphy bed, and a pull-down twin bed.

Resort Studios Will Be Available for Booking Soon

Looking at the fine print below the points chart, we see a final important note: the Resort Studios will be available for booking in Spring 2022, which sounds sooner than expected.  Earlier announcements about the Resort Studios have noted that they are projected to open Summer 2022.

Stay tuned to DVC Fan as we continue to learn more about the new Resort Studios!

“Available for booking in Spring 2022” — Do you think this may mean that in the spring you are able to make the reservation for a stay that would occur in the summer? And that they still might not open until the summer?

The wording is a bit vague, but that could be the case.
