RUMOR: Construction at The Villas at Disneyland Hotel Behind Schedule

Reliable sources have informed us that Disney is currently running behind in the final stages of construction for The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. We are being told the delays are on account of weather, particularly rain and flooding.

The new Disney Vacation Club resort is still slated to open on time, but as our sources have let us know, workers will likely still be on-site opening weekend, completing finishing touches. In other words, that paint may be super fresh or even still being put on the walls.

This is nothing new for Disney. When we checked in on opening day to the new Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Big Pine Key, there were lots of frantic crews laying sod out front, among other things. Similar delays plagued the Disney Wish in its final stages of completion, leading to the postponement of some sailings. It’s almost nostalgic thinking back to the opening days of Disneyland and Walt Disney World and resorts like The Contemporary. In some ways, history always seems to repeat itself.

We are still very hopeful that the Disneyland Villas will open on time, but might not be fully “show-ready”. I doubt DVC wants to deal with the fallout of cancelling stays, and displacing members with no additional inventory to place guests.

We recently got some new construction photos of The Villas at Disneyland Hotel as well! Exterior work appears to be on track and progressing nicely. In addition, crews can be seen inside the hotel working diligently on the rooms. From the photos, we can see that the colorful panels that accent the tower have been added since our last update. If weather is indeed the cause of any delay, it may be impacting work on the new pool and splash pad area outside, more than interior construction.

We are looking forward to sharing the opening of the new DVC villas with you. Stay tuned soon for coverage of this exciting new resort!
