DVC One-Time-Use Points Pricing Decrease

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) has recently announced a small decrease in the cost of One-Time-Use Points! Effective September 14th, 2023, DVC Members can now purchase One-Time-Use points at a rate of $20 per point, a decrease of $2 per point from February of this year when prices were increased.

Understanding DVC One-Time-Use Points

One-Time-Use Points are a unique aspect of the Disney Vacation Club membership program. These points provide members with additional flexibility to book accommodations beyond their annual allotment of Vacation Points.

DVC Members have the flexibility to purchase a maximum of 24 extra Vacation Points each Use Year. These additional points, known as One-Time-Use points, can be utilized to book Disney Vacation Club accommodations within the 7-month booking window. It’s important to note that One-Time-Use points cannot be used for Home Resort Priority bookings within the 7-11 month booking window.

Pricing

As of the most recent update, Disney Vacation Club has reduced the price of One-Time-Use Points to $20 per point. This breaks down as follows: $17.77 per one-time-use Vacation Point plus $1.16 tax (6.5%) plus $1.07 resort tax (6%).

Benefits and Usage

Utilizing One-Time-Use Points as a DVC Member can be beneficial when it comes to needing a few extra points for that perfect vacation:

  1. Extended stays: One-Time-Use Points allow you to extend your vacation beyond your annual allotment, giving you more time to enjoy your time at Disney.
  2. Disney Collection and World Collection Reservations: As long as the booking window for your desired trip is open (think Disney Cruise Line reservations that can be made up to 2 years in advance), DVC Members can also use and purchase one-time-use points to help towards these unique vacation opportunities. It’s important to note, however, that one-time-use Vacation Points cannot be used for options available through hotel exchange.

Expiration and Unused Points

One-Time-Use Points expire at the end of the Use Year in which they were purchased and cannot be banked, borrowed, or transferred.

To be honest, we were a bit confused when DVC decided to increase the price of One-Time-Use points earlier this year. This adjustment seems to make sense given the present market conditions and brings them more in line with the current value of Disney Vacation Club points we are seeing in the DVC Rental market.
