If there’s one thing Paul and I have talked about endlessly over the last few years, it’s how much we’ve wanted to experience The Garden View Lounge Tea Experience at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. As DVC Members, we’ve stayed at the Grand Floridian many times and every time, we’d walk past that quiet lounge and wonder when (or if) the tea service would ever return.
It closed back in 2020 and, like many of you, we kept waiting and hoping for news. And now, finally, it’s happening: Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Lounge returns March 19, with reservations opening February 19.
Why This Is a Big Deal for DVC Members
For longtime DVC Members, the return of tea at the Grand Floridian isn’t just about another dining experience it’s about the revival of a unique tradition. This was always one of those “hidden gems” at Walt Disney World, tucked away in a quiet corner of the resort that’s become a home base for so many of us.
Whether you own at the Grand or just love to resort-hop for dining, this experience has always offered something that feels personal, elegant, and completely outside the hustle of the parks.
And for those of us who remember it from pre-pandemic visits, there’s a nostalgic pull and for those who never got the chance (like us), it’s finally your moment.
What to Expect from the Updated Tea Experience
Disney has refreshed the experience with some Alice in Wonderland–inspired details, but it’s still very much the same peaceful, intimate tea service guests remember. It’s ideal for adult-only getaways, multigenerational trips, or a quiet midday break when you’re skipping the parks. There are options for kids as well.
Tea Offerings
The teas are selected in partnership with Twinings, offering everything from classics like Spicy Chai and London Strand Breakfast to unique blends exclusive to Walt Disney World, like Orangery of Lady Grey and Nutty Chocolate Assam. If you’re not a caffeine fan, they’ve also added Blackcurrant and Lavender herbal tea.

You’ll work with a Cast Member to personalize your tea — from choosing a base blend to adding aromatics during steeping. You can also opt for:
- Tea-inspired cocktails (like a Mint Tulip or a Mar-TEA-ni)
- Non-alcoholic sparkling teas for younger guests or non-drinkers
- A full champagne or sparkling wine list

Food Items
It’s not just about the tea — the food is just as detailed. You’ll begin with a freshly baked orange-cranberry scone, then move on to a classic three-tier presentation featuring:
Savory Bites:
- Curried Chicken Salad Tart
- Wonderland Salmon Crisp
- Egg Salad Sandwich on beet bread
- Butterfly Pea Cream Cheese Cucumber Roll

Sweets:
- Matcha Sponge Cake with Yuzu Buttercream
- Coffee Custard Tart
- Passion Fruit Choux Pastry
- Tableside-painted Earl Grey Teacake
Plant-based diners aren’t left out either, and for those wanting to elevate the experience, there are premium add-ons like a seasonal cheese selection or Royal Osetra Caviar.
Kids Can Join the Fun, Too
The Children’s Afternoon Tea brings themed mini sandwiches and fun desserts like a Cheshire Cat Macaron and White Rabbit Cupcake, making it a great way to introduce younger DVC family members to the tradition without needing a park ticket.

Final Thoughts (and Tips!)
As DVC Members, we love experiences that feel a little off the beaten path, and this is one of them. It’s relaxing, elevated, and increases the offerings for those staying around the monorail loop. Whether you’re looking for a new tradition or finally checking this off your list like we are, this is one worth booking early.
We’ll be setting our alarms for February 19 and planning a whole resort day around it. We recommend doing the same.
