A Guide to DVC Membership Levels and Benefits

When it comes to Disney Vacation Club (DVC), membership is more than just a timeshare—it’s an opportunity to turn every Disney vacation into a unique experience. At its core, DVC offers flexibility and value, rewarding members with exclusive benefits and perks. But did you know not all DVC memberships are created equal? There are three primary membership levels, each offering unique advantages.

Whether you’re considering joining DVC or you’re already a member looking to maximize your perks, understanding the nuances of these membership levels can make a big difference in how you enjoy your Disney vacations. Below, we’ll break down the three types of memberships—Resale Only, Direct with Extras, and Membership Magic Beyond—and their specific benefits.

1. Resale Membership Only

Purchasing DVC points via resale can be an attractive option for budget-conscious Disney fans. Resale memberships are typically more affordable than buying directly from Disney, but they come with certain limitations.

Perks of Resale Membership

  • Lower Costs:
  • Resale points can cost significantly less than buying direct, which allows members to enjoy Disney vacations while keeping costs under control.
  • Access to DVC Resorts:
  • Members can use their points to book stays at their “home” DVC resort at 11 months and other DVC properties (some restrictions apply) at 7 months, making it a great way to experience Disney accommodations.
  • Flexibility:
  • Just like direct buyers, resale members enjoy flexible vacation planning with the ability to choose dates, resorts, and room types.
  • Access to Interval International:
  • All members are able to exchange their points into the Interval International program.

However, resale memberships do not provide access to some of the unique perks that direct buyers enjoy (details in the next section). If you’re purely seeking excellent accommodations at Disney properties without needing extras, resale membership can be a perfect fit.

Key Considerations

While resale memberships are cost-effective, they do not include benefits like access to the Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, or certain member-exclusive events.

2. Direct Membership with Extras

Riviera Resort

Buying a minimum amount of DVC points directly from Disney unlocks a variety of extra benefits not available to resale purchasers. While this amount is currently 150 points, it is subject to change at any time. This option is ideal for those who want an elevated vacation experience beyond just booking accommodations.

Perks of Direct Membership

  • Discounts:
  • Save on dining at select in-park and resort restaurants.
  • Exclusive retail discounts on Disney merchandise.
  • Event Access:
  • Invitations to member-only events at DVC resorts, like Moonlight Magic.
  • Early access to certain Disney promotions and ticket events.
  • Exclusive Annual Pass Discounts:
  • The ability to purchase the more affordable Disney Sorcerer Pass.
  • No Resort Restrictions:
  • Direct points are able to be used at all resorts at the 7 month window without restrictions.

To enjoy these benefits, members must present an official DVC electronic membership card.

These extras make direct purchasing a rewarding experience for members looking for that touch of Disney exclusivity.

International owners can’t buy MMB so no option to join the ultimate level of DVC, many complaints sent by lots of owners but nothing is happening.
I find it really disappointing and leaves a sour taste of ownership
