DVC Perks, Discounts, and Events General DVC Moonlight Magic

Dear DVC: I Was Wrong… And I’m Totally Okay With It

We all have moments when we need to admit we were wrong.

Sometimes it’s forgetting to mobile order before peak lunch rush. Sometimes it’s assuming you can “squeeze in one more ride before the fireworks.” But once in a while, you’re happily wrong—the kind of wrong where you’re practically grinning as you eat your words… and maybe a Chicken & Waffles dish from a Festival booth, too.

So, Dear Disney Vacation Club: I’m sorry.

Last week, I wrote a blog expressing frustration over the Know Before You Go email for the EPCOT Moonlight Magic event. Based on the wording, it sounded like some of the best perks of the event had quietly disappeared—no Festival food booth access, no special fireworks, and only a vague mention of snacks and ice cream. My heart sank. This is one of my favorite events of the year, and it seemed like the magic had been trimmed back significantly.

Now, I should have stopped myself there.
I know communication has never exactly been your strong suit, DVC. But I felt a responsibility to inform and prepare fellow Members—after all, a lot of you out there actually read these ramblings of mine, and you deserve the best info I can give.

So I wrote the blog.

And then… I went to the event.

And then… I ate those words. (And also an impossible beef empanada, which was chef’s kiss.)

Everything Was There—and Then Some

To my shock (and sincere delight), the event not only included Festival food booth access, but it also delivered an incredible special fireworks show that absolutely blew my face off in the best way possible.

Seriously—nothing had changed from what we’ve come to love about EPCOT Moonlight Magic. If anything, it was better. Transportation was improved, Skyliner was running smoothly late into the night, buses were abundant, and the whole flow of the evening felt more polished than ever.

The only thing missing? Moonlight Magic merchandise.
(Disney, you’d make millions. I’m just saying.)

In all honesty, I can confidently say this was the best DVC Moonlight Magic event I’ve ever attended.

These Events Aren’t Cheap

Let’s not forget—putting on an event like this is no small feat. Between park rentals, food, entertainment, character experiences, fireworks, and staffing, DVC is probably spending well over a million dollars per night to make these events happen. And they don’t have to do it. But they do. And as a Member, I’m incredibly grateful.

Which is why I felt compelled to say: I’m sorry for jumping the gun.

Just One Request: Communicate Better

If I may humbly ask one thing in return? Communicate better.

In today’s world, where misinformation spreads faster than a Lightning Lane booking glitch, clarity matters more than ever. People trust official sources. They want to plan their trips around details that are accurate, not guesswork. And when THE organization—Disney Vacation Club—sends out confusing or incomplete information, it opens the door for confusion, doubt, and yes… even slightly salty blog posts from people like me.

Now look—I’m all for under-promise and over-deliver, but this wasn’t that.
This was more like, “Surprise! We’re just kidding. Here’s everything you thought we cut. April Fools!”
(Wait… was that it? Did I get April Fooled in late April? If so, well played, DVC.)

In the End, It’s All About the Community

At the end of the day, I don’t want to write anything negative or off-base about this incredible product I love so much. I don’t want to be wrong. But I also don’t want this amazing community of DVC Members—people who’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars on this Membership—to be in the dark when it comes to events and perks.

So DVC, I’ll say it one more time:
You nailed Moonlight Magic. Thank you.
Now let’s just get the communication to match the magic.

So nice to meet you and Amy (and I caught up with Jeff later!) on Wednesday night. You said it’s all about community, and that is so true. Moonlight Magic is great with the food, fireworks and short wait times, but it’s being in the park with other DVC members that makes the experience truly unique. Hope to cross paths again sometime!

I love that you owned this Paul, and in such a clever way too. And you are absolutely right, DVC and Disney could get so much better with communication. We need more details, DISNEY! I am glad the event was wonderful and that you guys had the best time.
