It looks like the EPCOT DVC Member Lounge is about to get a major makeover! A slight slip-up in this month’s edition of Disney Files Magazine has revealed the lounge’s new name, which will be “Disney Vacation Club ImaginAtrium – A Member Lounge” when it reopens in the coming months.
For those who may not know, the DVC Member Lounge was initially scheduled to reopen on July 13th, 2024, following a brief closure. However, here we are in mid-August, and the lounge remains closed with no new reopening date announced. The rumor mill suggests that the delay might be tied to issues with the building’s elevator system—a necessary fix, no doubt, but one that has left many of us eagerly awaiting our next visit.
The reveal of the new name, “ImaginAtrium,” is intriguing, especially since the lounge is located in a space, parts of which have seen minimal use for years. Nestled upstairs in the Imagination Pavilion, behind those mysterious walls, there are echoes of EPCOT’s past—a past that many of us would love to see resurrected. Could this new name hint at a more significant reimagining? Could it mean we might finally get to explore the long-abandoned Rainbow Corridor?
Our friends over at WDWNT speculated back in 2019 that the Rainbow Corridor might be making a comeback, and while it’s purely wishful thinking on my part, it’s hard not to let one’s imagination run wild with possibilities.
If I could choose three features for the newly reimagined Member Lounge, they would be:
1) Restrooms – Let’s be honest, this would be a game-changer. Members would rejoice at the addition of a much-needed convenience right within the lounge.
2) More Seating Space – In recent years, the lounge has seen long waits, especially during peak times. Expanding the seating area would make it more comfortable for everyone to relax and enjoy the space.
3) The Rainbow Corridor – Bringing back this iconic piece of EPCOT history as a Member exclusive would be an incredible nod to the past and a fantastic perk for DVC Members.
While we wait for more details, we can only dream of what the ImaginAtrium might hold. I’ll be sure to keep you all updated as soon as we hear more about the reopening and what’s in store for this reimagined space.
