McKim’s Mile House Review – The New DVC Member Lounge at Magic Kingdom

Looking for a place to cool off and recharge during your day at Magic Kingdom? McKim’s Mile House, the brand-new DVC Member Lounge in Frontierland, offers the perfect escape for Disney Vacation Club members. But how does it stack up compared to other member lounges, like the one at EPCOT? Here’s everything you need to know.

Standout Features

1. Themed to Perfection

Stepping into McKim’s Mile House feels like you’re transported directly into the heart of Frontierland. From the rustic décor to the cozy atmosphere that blends seamlessly with the surrounding park, the theming is spot-on. You’ll immediately feel like you’re part of the adventure.

2. Space to Relax and Refresh

Amidst the bustling park, this lounge provides a much-needed retreat. Whether you’re looking for a quick snack or a moment to recharge (yourself, not so much your devices—more on that later), it delivers.

Here’s what’s offered inside:

  • Two Coke Freestyle Machines for endless drink combinations
  • Two Keurig machines serving regular and decaf coffee, as well as a variety of tea K-Cups
  • Snacks like potato chips, apple chips, and granola bars

The free refreshments are a sweet little perk, especially on a hot day.

3. A Great Addition to Magic Kingdom

Overall, having a lounge in Magic Kingdom is a real game-changer. After the success of the EPCOT DVC Lounge, adding another member-only space is a clear win, even if there’s room for improvement.

Things to Keep in Mind

While McKim’s Mile House is a solid addition, it has a few limitations worth noting:

1. Small Capacity

The lounge is cozy—perhaps a little too cozy. With a seating capacity in the 50s, expect crowds and a likely waitlist to get in, especially during busy park days.

For example, on opening day, the waitlist was closed by 3 PM, even though the lounge stayed open until 6 PM. It’s best to arrive early in the day if you want to secure a spot.

2. Limited Hours

Speaking of timing, the lounge is only open from 11 AM to 6 PM. While this aligns with peak park hours, it excludes early risers and those strolling the park later in the evening.

3. Lack of Charging Options

If you’re hoping to charge up your devices while taking a breather, you might be disappointed. Unlike the EPCOT DVC Lounge, where charging stations are abundant at nearly every seat, McKim’s Mile House has limited charging spaces. Since seating is assigned, there’s no guarantee you’ll get a spot near an outlet. Make sure your phone or device is prepped beforehand.

Final Thoughts

Despite its small size and limited amenities, McKim’s Mile House is a welcome addition for DVC members seeking a break in the most magical place on Earth. Its thoughtful theming and complimentary snacks make it a great pit stop to rest and recharge.

That said, we hope Disney considers expanding capacity or increasing operating hours in the future to better accommodate the high demand from members. Until then, add this to your must-visit list at Magic Kingdom—but remember to plan ahead.
