Additional Plans Revealed for Disneyland Hotel DVC Tower

Disneyland Hotel

Today we are gaining further insight into plans for the previously announced 350-room Disney Vacation Club tower proposed for the Disneyland Hotel.

Disney revealed some of this new information in a virtual town hall to Anaheim residents as part of the approval process for the new building.

As reported by @MagicAndWalnut on Twitter, here are a few key takeaways to note:

  • Although the front of the DVC Tower will carry forward the classic look and feel of the Disneyland Hotel, an additional tiered section will extend from the building offering both more accommodations, as well as an unobtrusive view for the surrounding neighborhood.
  • A spa, new pool, and interactive water feature can be noted in the design images obtained, consistent with previous reports of a Mickey-shaped spa and small outdoor pool bar as part of a new pool and recreational area.

As we reported previously, this 12-story tower is expected to include a variety of room accommodations, including smaller two-person studio villas, similar to the Tower Studio properties that are featured at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Proposed plans suggest that the resort will feature 271 Deluxe Studios, 38 smaller ‘Tower Studio’ style rooms, 19 One-Bedroom Villas, 20 Two-Bedroom Villas, and 2 Grand Villas.

All signs indicate that the Disneyland Hotel DVC Tower is continuing to progress forward despite current park and resort closures. While no construction has begun yet on the structure, it was originally hoped that the new DVC property would be completed by 2023, depending on the speed at which the city approves the resort.

Looks like an apartment building! Though I understand the motivation to echo the design of the Disneyland Hotel, I was hoping they’d find a way to make it architecturally interesting as well, maybe even a little Disney-esque. We love all the DVC properties, but our favorites are imaginative, beautiful and unique.
