The Grand Floridian lobby is still a construction site, but significant progress has been made with the refurbishment since our last look in June 2025. Let’s take a look at the changes in the lobby thus far.
New Check-in Area
Among the biggest changes is a brand new check-in desk with a dark wood finish. Unlike some of the newer resorts like Riviera or the Island Tower at the Polynesian that emphasize the use of tablets, the Grand Floridian retained its more traditional front desk. The refreshed area features a backlit wall with a filigree design and contemporary gold light fixtures above the desks.

New Bar
The birdcage that will be the focal point of the new bar is taking shape and is clearly visible above the construction walls in the center of the lobby. The new bar will take up a substantial portion of the lobby, but there is still plenty of space for seating areas and of course the grand piano.

New Furniture
Speaking of seating, the lobby now has new couches, chairs, and tables. The couches and chairs are in muted shades of blues, greens, and yellows to contrast with the new carpet’s jewel tone hues. Several of the chairs have floral prints on the back, and this aesthetic is even carried over into the new kids’ seating area.

Elevators
Both sets of elevators in the main building got a refresh. The elevator closest to the grand staircase features a beautiful painting with flowers, palm trees, and birds. The elevators on the opposite side have a new light blue wallpaper with a similar tree and bird motif that feels reminiscent of the decor in Big Pine Key.

The Grand Staircase
Last but not least is the grand staircase that now has shades of deep green with pops of red and yellow, similar to the color scheme of the carpet in the center of the lobby. Above the staircase is a new large painting of the Grand Floridian surrounded by palm trees.
