According to the Orange County Register, new site plans and permits filed with the City of Anaheim have revealed more details regarding the new Disney Vacation Club tower proposed for the Disneyland Hotel.
This new 350 room addition to the resort is expected to include a variety of room accommodations, including smaller two-person studio villas, similar to the Tower Studio properties that are featured at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Proposed plans suggest that the resort will feature 271 Deluxe Studios, 38 smaller ‘Tower Studio’ style rooms, 19 One-Bedroom Villas, 20 Two-Bedroom Villas, and 2 Grand Villas.
According to reports, the project indicates no new restaurant or retail facilities, but will include a Mickey-shaped spa and small outdoor pool bar as part of a new pool and recreational area.
Concept art indicates that the Disneyland Hotel DVC Tower will take inspiration from the current look and feel of the resort with large glass panels covering the building. As we had questioned in a previous article, the tower also appears to feature balconies, breaking from the current norm of the Disneyland Hotel towers.
Many steps remain before the project becomes a reality as Disney seeks approval and permits that are required by the City of Anaheim. Although the new tower has is expected to be completed in 2023, this timeframe could expand depending on the speed at which the city approves the resort.

January 23, 2020Hey Tom! So I would say at this point it is going to be a hard decision between Disneyland Hotel and Bay Lake Tower. Poll going up soon over on DVC Fan about resale restrictions with this proposed resort and its effect on sales. My thoughts are it would raise some interesting questions since based on the current resale restrictions in place you would only be able to use the points at the Disneyland Hotel Tower in Anaheim, CA. In my head, this actually would make the points more appealing to me on the resale market since I would be purchasing them to have that opportunity to go to Anaheim and Disneyland. If this would pan out I would question how much of a hit the points would actually take on the resale market? Likely some decrease due to the fact that they can’t be used at Disney World, but perhaps not as great if people want the contracts exclusively for Disneyland trips.
As far as Amy and I are concerned though I would say the more time that passes and the more we learn the less we feel we “need” to buy at this property.

January 23, 2020And … my excitement for this resort just died. It’s basically a resort filled with studios, which is not our choice as we prefer one or two bedroom villas. One of the main reasons we bought into DVC was to get away from the basic hotel room, and a studio isn’t much of an upgrade in my humble opinion.

January 23, 2020I agree 100%. For us, studios feel just like hotel rooms and if I want that, I’ll just book a regular room and use discounts to do so. Only 19 One Bedrooms and 20 Two Bedrooms–that is tremendously disappointing news.

January 23, 2020With how quickly 1-Bedrooms go at Grand Californian; I’m having many issues with the idea of 19 One Bedrooms. Hopefully the studios will sleep 5 in that case.

January 23, 2020We are extra excited now–all we ever do is studios since there are only two of us. We do like the space in a normal studio, so I doubt we’ll be too interested in the tower studios.

January 23, 2020I can’t wait! I can see how those who are big fans of 1&2 bedrooms are a little disappointed. Since Disneyland trips are not normally a week long affair, I see why they went with more studios. Hopefully the studios will sleep 5 for those who need the extra bed. Excited for the smaller studio for trips with my just mom or just my husband. I only want 25 points to offset my 50 VGC.
