The Grand Floridian has already begun its major lobby renovation! While it will still maintain its Victorian theming, the new decor will feature botanical garden accents, updated furniture, new carpeting, and a new lobby bar. Here’s the current status of the Grand Floridian lobby and what you may find on your upcoming trip.
Temporary Check-in Area
Those who visit the Grand Floridian will immediately notice the ongoing construction upon entering the lobby. The old check-in area along the right-hand side of the lobby has been boarded up. In its place are temporary check-in desks in the center of the lobby as well as cast members with tablets to assist guests. Lots of other cast members are on hand in the lobby to help direct guests.
The Start of the Grand Floridian Lobby Bar

Work has already begun where the new Grand Floridian lobby bar will be located. The iconic birdcage has been removed, and the entire center section of the lobby has been cleared and blocked off with construction walls. As noted by Disney Parks Blog, the bar’s design is inspired by the birdcage and will feature intricate woodwork, stained glass, and brass.
Updates to the Garden View Tea Room

The Garden View Tea Room, which used to host afternoon tea, has been closed since the pandemic and only used occasionally as an overflow space. There were no specific plans announced for this area when the lobby renovation plans were shared. However, the room has been closed off with construction walls. It’ll be interesting to see if the tea room makes a comeback or if there are new plans in store for this location. Our only hint currently is the artist rendering of the refreshed lobby, which seems to depict stained glass windows where the Garden View Tea Room is located.
