Last night, Paul and I had the opportunity to experience the newly redesigned Top of the World Lounge – A Villains Lair ahead of its official reopening. It’s been over two long years waiting for this beloved space to reopen to DVC members and it’s finally happening soon!
Tonight, July 8th begins the first of a few sold-out hard ticketed party nights happening at the lounge. And on July 11th, the lounge will fully reopen to qualifying members. While we imagine the lounge will continue to have special ticketed events from time to time, we are excited to see this reopen regularly for members looking to enjoy the fireworks and an exclusive lounge during their trips.
A NEW “Villainous” Look!
Along with the reopening, the lounge has been re-themed with a Disney Villain’s motif. Most all the furniture has been replaced, there are photos of notorious villains throughout. Overall though, it still looks very familiar and the notable chandelier still hangs and the beautiful monorail is still behind the bar.
Fiendish Fare and Concoctions
In addition to the new look, guests will also experience a new themed menu of beer, wine, cocktails, and appetizers. Since we were here as guests of Disney and were able to try these items complimentary, we won’t review them. However, we are excited to show you what to expect from the new menu.
Speaking of the menu, here are more specifics.
We have seen some mixed feelings related to the new theming. I’m truthfully glad to see it look more like the lounge it was before. It’s also light theming that can be switched out more easily down the road (Halloween, Christmas, etc.). Regardless of your thoughts on the look, Top of the World Lounge – A Villains Lair continues to be a great spot to watch Magic Kingdom Fireworks with the music for Enchantment piped in both inside and out on the observation deck. We are very happy to see this member space back.
