First Look: Refurbished Deluxe Studio Villa at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins

Copper Creek Studio Refurb - Murphy Bed Couch

We’ve gotten our first look at the soft-goods refurbishment at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge! Thanks to DVC Fan Member Kimberly Danese Cochran for the photos. We’re excited to share what Members can expect when booking a stay later this year. Let’s take a look inside!

What’s New at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins?

Originally opening in July 2017, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is undergoing its first soft-goods refurbishment, a refresh that began in May 2025 and is expected to continue through fall 2025. This update focuses on textile replacements, minor improvements, and a fan-favorite upgrade: the Murphy-style pull-down bed.

Special thanks to DVC Fan Member Kimberly Danese Cochran for sharing these first-look photos from her recent stay!

What Is a Soft-Goods Refurbishment?

A soft-goods refurbishment is a lighter update to DVC accommodations—think new bedding, curtains, carpet, upholstery, and small enhancements like updated lighting or tech. Unlike a full renovation, these changes don’t involve structural work or layout changes, but they significantly elevate the room’s comfort and design.

More recently, these refurbishments have included Murphy beds—which replace the traditional sleeper sofas at resorts like Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and now Copper Creek.

The Murphy Bed Has Arrived!

Let’s talk about the highlight: the addition of a Murphy-style pull-down bed in the Deluxe Studio. This upgrade replaces what I affectionately called the “lumpy couch bed” with a much more comfortable, easy-to-use sleeping surface.

The new bed is built into a warm wood frame, complete with overhead lighting—a welcome improvement that brightens up the sleeping area. It also appears to include built-in charging ports on the right-hand side, though we couldn’t 100% confirm based on the photo.

Themed Artwork Touches:

  • Front Panel: Brother Bear–inspired scene featuring Koda and Kenai hiking the mountains.
  • Interior Panel: When pulled down, guests are treated to a cozy night scene with Rutt and Tuke, snuggled beside their mammoth friends under the Northern Lights.

The coordinated throw pillows continue the earthy, geometric theme with woodsy greens, browns, and rustic textures.

Note: Not every villa will get a Murphy bed. Similar to layouts at BoardWalk Villas and Boulder Ridge, some room types simply can’t accommodate the upgrade and will instead receive a refreshed sleeper sofa (a.k.a. “Lumpy Couch Bed 2.0”).

Curtains, Carpet & Cozy Details

The previous beige curtains have been replaced with bold, forest-themed drapery featuring multicolored trees—an artistic nod to the Pacific Northwest theme of Wilderness Lodge.

You’ll also spot a new area rug under the coffee table, rich with earthy tones and patterns that tie the room together. These additions give the space a refined-yet-rustic charm that feels both modern and thematic.

The upholstered seating at the table has also received a refresh, now sporting warmer red tones instead of the original tan. It’s a subtle but effective touch that brings extra depth and color to the room’s overall palette.

Kitchenette & Coffee Corner

No significant layout changes in the kitchenette or bathroom, but coffee lovers will appreciate the upgraded Gen 2 Keurig K-Duo. This latest model offers a new “Brew Over Ice” mode—perfect for summer mornings on your villa balcony.

Yes, I did a deep dive and confirmed—it’s the new K-Duo Gen 2 model. And yes, it’s now on my Christmas list.

Storage remains the same, with functional cabinets, microwave, and a mini fridge.

Bathroom Updates

The bathroom looks crisp and refreshed, though no major changes were made. The finishes—including granite countertops and rustic fixtures—still feel up-to-date and consistent with the resort’s theme.

Can You Request a Refurbished Room?

The full refurbishment of Copper Creek’s Deluxe Studios is expected to finish by October 2025. Until then, room assignments are luck of the draw—you may submit a request for a refurbished unit, but it’s not guaranteed.

To be safe, only book with the expectation of a refurbished room starting in late fall.

Final Thoughts

Amy and I have a few Copper Creek stays booked later this year, and we’re excited to experience these updates firsthand. Between the comfortable new beds, the Brother Bear theming, and yes—the Keurig upgrade—we think this refurbishment hits the right notes.

Let us know in the comments: Are you excited about the Murphy beds? Or are you already shopping for the new Keurig Duo too?

Am I correct in assuming that this refurbishment did not add the fifth bed (murphy) underneath the TV.

      Correct! That was not added.
