Hi Keyholder Vacations family,
My name is Alysha McDonald. Right now, we are in the midst of give back November, a special time when our company comes together to raise funds for Give Kids the World. A cause that holds a very personal place in my heart.
A Journey No Family Expects
In December of 2018, my son Brody was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. He underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy and two bone marrow transplants. During that time, it often felt like the hospital walls were the only world we knew.
But in October 2019, Brody’s wish was granted: a trip to Legoland, something he was beyond excited about, as he was absolutely obsessed with Legos. Like many wish families visiting Orlando, we stayed at Give Kids the World, and from the very moment we arrived, I knew this place was something extraordinary.

The Magic of Give Kids the World
This magical village is made just for the kids and it shows. It features a carousel, spa, pool, arcade, and even amusement rides that are fully inclusive for children in wheelchairs, ensuring every child gets to experience the magic. Each evening, the Village hosts themed parties. Every Thursday, there’s a Christmas celebration, complete with decorations, games, crafts, carriage rides, and even a visit from Santa who brings gifts for each child.

Brody’s wish was to go to a theme park. But the purest joy I ever saw on his face came at the Village, while he swam in the pool and marveled at their incredible model train display.
Each child, including Brody, creates a personalized star before they leave and place it in the Castle of Miracles. Thousands of stars now fill this castle, and standing in that room is truly a humbling and emotional experience.

Why Support Matters
The truth is, Give Kids the World cannot operate without support. Whether through monetary donations, fundraising efforts, or volunteering during your next DVC trip, every act of giving helps create life-changing moments for families like mine.
Tragically, we lost Brody the year after our trip. Thanks to the Give Kids the World, we return each year as alumni. We find peace and healing in the place where we created so many of our happiest memories with him.
I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer at the Give Kids the World for an entire weekend alongside my sister. We did everything from helping with horseback rides and operating attractions, to assisting a (very playful) squirrel with hiding pillows for the kids. The smiles we saw, those moments of pure, unfiltered joy are more rewarding than words can express.

From the Bottom of My Heart
Thank you for letting me share my story. From the bottom of my heart, I encourage you to be part of the magic. Your support means the world to families like mine.
