Great news for our international DVC members. We’ve had confirmation that they will be able to call Member Services to purchase the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass in advance. Even if they are not in the USA yet.
Once Lightning Lane has been purchased over the phone, ride choices can be booked through the My Disney Experience App as usual.
Will Member Services Also Book Ride Selections?
Calling Member Services will only enable you to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Single Pass, or both. They have confirmed they will not be able to make ride selections for members. As mentioned above, to select the ride, you will need to log in to the My Disney Experience App.
Lightning Lanes Passes Were Set to Only be Available to Purchase Within the USA and Canada
Unlike its predecessor Genie+, the new Lightning Lanes Passes are available to purchase before you arrive in the parks. For Disney Resort Hotel guests this is from seven days in advance, for all other guests this is from three days in advance.
When the new Lightning Lane set up was first announced, Disney confirmed that the advance purchase and booking would only be available to people within the USA and Canada. This meant international guests, would be unable to purchase the service before they arrived in the USA, even if they had a Disney Resort stay booked. This was obviously very disappointing, and put international guests at a disadvantage when trying to get those hard to snag rides. It’s really great to hear that for DVC members at least, there is now a way round this.
This is Only Available to DVC Members
Whilst this is great news for DVC members, unfortunately other international guests will still have to wait until they are in the USA before they can purchase Lightning Lane Passes. Hopefully Disney will be able to fix this in the future. For now, it’s another great advantage of being a DVC member.
