Buying and Selling DVC

And Just Like That, I Became a DVC Owner

My wife, Amy, and I had just returned from a 9-day Walt Disney World vacation. I can almost recall walking by one of the hundreds of Disney Vacation Club kiosks located around property during the trip and thinking to myself, “Why would anyone ever buy that?”. I think when I later learned the price, I may have added a few other choice words to that thought.

Yet, here I was one week removed from our most recent Disney vacation and desperately looking for a way to return as soon as possible.

Before I really knew what was happening, any spare moment was spent browsing resale contracts until settling on our first home at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas. Less than a month after walking by that kiosk scratching my head, I had joined the ranks of thousands of others and was a DVC Member.

Every person has their own unique story of what brought them to Disney Vacation Club.  For my wife and I, it was the opportunity to bring to life the dream of visiting our favorite place frequently and despite my initial reactions, affordably. In my eyes, this blog is an opportunity to share these stories, as well as help others as they consider taking the plunge into membership. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you, and learning just as much in return.

Jackie Gailey mention on one of the DVC Show episodes that buying DVC is a commitment; that you’re marrying DIsney.

    Too true.

For some people its season tickets for their college football team, maybe for others its a week in Utah skiing, but at some point you go all in on your hobby. For many of us Disney is our hobby and purchasing DVC is just the next step in the journey of our hobby.
