About Author

Paul lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife, Amy, and their three Spanish galgos, Hermès, Cinders, and Emerson. They’re Disney Vacation Club Members at five resorts, Disney World Annual Passholders, and always on the lookout for new ways to enjoy and maximize their DVC points. When he’s not at the parks or planning their next trip, Paul loves cooking (big Alton Brown fan), training for Disney races with Amy, and blasting Billy Joel in the background.

I find it easier to calculate a per point/per year cost to my points that includes member dues. For our first DVC contract, VGF direct purchased at $165/pp, I calculated a pp/py cost of less than $10pp (length of contract makes a big difference in the calculations). For our upcoming trip in September in 1bdrm standard view at VGF, our per night cost is around $310. In my mind I am remembering what we paid per night for a Poly hotel room 15 year ago (hint it was more than $310) and I no longer think about break even — it will come quickly.
