Showing Your DVC Pride: Member Merchandise

One step below the infamous “add-on-itis” in my house is a second equally addicting and costly past time: Purchasing Member Merchandise!

Ever since Amy and I purchased our first contract at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, we have been relentless in our pursuit of acquiring every piece of DVC related swag and decor we can find. Here are a few of our favorite items:

Even before we set foot in Walt Disney World for our first Disney Vacation Club trip, we were already beginning our collection. As soon as we learned that our AKV contract had passed Right of First Refusal, we headed over to the Member Marketplace to purchase some DVC luggage tags. I also opted for a personalized mug to commemorate the event and make each morning at work a little more enjoyable.

As part of the welcome package with our additional direct points purchase, we received in the mail our coveted DVC magnet. Sadly, it was lost in a tragic car wash incident. We were, however, able to find a suitable replacement bumper sticker online that has stood the test of time on our Equinox with our Annual Pass and Greyhound magnets.

Speaking of magnets, one tradition that we started long ago with our Walt Disney World Vacations and have continued as DVC owners is purchasing magnets for each of the resorts that we have stayed. For magnets, we currently have Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. It is becoming more and more difficult to find magnets for some of the resorts, but we will continue to look as new merchandise becomes available. Amy even has her eyes on a few older resort magnets on Ebay.

As a surprise to mark the first welcome home adventure we took as DVC owners, I purchased Amy a Dooney & Burke DVC clutch after watching her ogle over it in the Disney’s Contemporary Resort gift shop. These can currently be found over on the ShopDisney website for 40% off. I expect this is in preparation for a new line that will include Disney’s Riviera Resort and have already started saving for another surprise.

Pictured with the Dooney & Burke is a laser etched Disney Vacation Club Yeti that we found online. After trying multiple other Disney water bottles, this one has handled best the wear and tear that a day in the parks can bring. I am honestly surprised that Disney has not partnered with a company like Yeti yet to make an official insulated bottle option.

Shortly after adding our second resale contract at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, another unmistakable Disney package arrived on our doorstep. This time, my wife (Amy), had decided to purchase two resort t-shirts to add to our growing collection of Disney clothing. A neat aspect of these shirts are that they can be customized both in design and color to suit your style.

Last but not least is the tragic tale of Amy’s Dooney & Burke magic band. As you can see from the picture, it is missing in action. Our hope is that the kind Lyft driver who took us to Disney’s Contemporary Resort last June will read this and reach out to reunite the two once more. It’s more likely, however, in some Florida landfill.

I’m sure we will come home with more memorable items from our next DVC trip in December. Amy currently has her eye on the Disney Vacation Club spirit jersey.

If you have found yourself like us looking for the old Member Marketplace website, it appears Disney has bid it farewell. All Disney Vacation Club merchandise can now be found at ShopDisney.com with conflicting reports of whether any DVC discount can still apply to these purchases.

Would love to hear what Disney Vacation Club merchandise you and your family have collected or are hoping to find on your next trip. Please share in the comments below!

  • I still feel that they missing the mark with limited merchandise and were to find it. Why not a DVC store in Disney Springs ? Also why not a store at SSR were most purchases are made ?

  • Literally wearing my DVC zip up hoodie that I bought at Vero while wearing this. It’s my favorite and so comfy!
