Aulani Buying and Selling DVC DVC Resorts General DVC Riviera Resort

Direct Price for Riviera and Aulani Increasing January 29th

Disney's Riviera Resort

With the excitement of Disney’s Riviera Resort’s grand opening behind us, Disney Vacation Club has wasted no time rolling out their next direct price increase for currently selling resorts.

Effective Wednesday, January 29th, 2020, direct prices will increase to the following per point levels:

ResortDirect PriceIncrease
Disney’s Riviera Resort$195+ $7
Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas $193+ $5

These price increases reflect what has become a standard increase for current properties being sold by Disney around the first of the year. They also follow sold-out direct price increases that occurred back in October 2019.

It is worth noting that this appears to be the first time Disney Vacation Club has chosen to offer two prices for their properties currently being sold. With Aulani opening its doors over eight years ago, the resort continues to struggle to sell its entire DVC inventory even with steep holiday discounts being offered.  Current resale contracts listed for Aulani are being sold for as low as $105 per point.

Follow along on the DVC Fan Facebook Group for more discussion of these increases, and let us know in the comments if this changes your mind about purchasing DVC in the near future!

Wow, who can afford this? I guess we got spoiled by $56 a point in 1993. I guess people pay on credit, and never really own, like those million dollar vacation homes I see on home-hunter shows.

I can’t say I could ever “afford” direct prices, but the biggest concern to me is that increases in direct pricing also drive up resale prices. I can safely say I’m probably done with purchasing contracts sitting at 395 points now, but they are coming awful close to pricing me out of resale purchases as well. Not that we want an economic downturn, but the next time it happens (and it’s inevitable) I have to wonder how DVC withstands it at these prices.

I guess one could say how is anyone ever going to afford to buy direct at these prices, but until the market screams enough, DVC will continue to push the envelope. I’m thinking at this rate, we may be looking at $205+ for Reflections once they start selling. Incredible.

WOW! So they think this will make Aulani sell out faster?
