The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort are becoming the next Disney Vacation Club property at Walt Disney World Resort. The current cabins at the resort will be rebuilt as refreshed hideaways. This project between Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Vacation Club is part of the overall refreshment of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and is projected to open in 2024. There will be no impact on the campground sites at the resort, but the cabins will close in phases as the project begins.
More than 350 new cabins will replace the existing cabins nestled across the 750 acres of scenic woodlands. The cabins will be built with an eye toward the environment. That means utilizing the footprint of the existing cabins instead of developing more land and taking advantage of more energy-efficient features. Each proposed, stand-alone cabin offers spacious accommodations, sleeping up to six adults, and features a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio. Expect them to feel very similar in layout, but refreshed. A select number of cabins are also expected to be dog-friendly.
The current cabins are rustic and feel like they belong at the resort and the new cabins will capture that same charm while being updated with new interiors and allowing more natural light inside. Disney says, “Design concepts offer a fresh take on the current cabin experience and are inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling.”
As with all Disney Vacation Club resorts, the proposed cabins will be open for reservations to all guests. This means you don’t have to be a DVC member in order to enjoy a resort you may have loved for years and years. However, it is based on availability. More details on the project including the start of sales and rental bookings will be released at a later day.
Enhancements are also expected for the resort pool and walking trails. Trail’s End Restaurant just closed as part of the enhancements which will expand the dining experience at the resort. Crockett’s Tavern is also going to be part of the enhancement process, but more news on all enhancements will be coming in the future.
Assuming the project is completed, this will be the 17the Disney Vacation Club Resort and seemingly solidifies there’s no chance Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge will be built at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Not interested in this. I realize this is DVC fan, but Wilderness Lodge already has a ton of DVC properties around it. Add to Animal Kingdom area, or build out from Hollywood Studios. The cabins did not need to be slaughtered for this.
Waaaaaaay too tight for 6 adults without significant expansion of the cabin. And 1 bathroom for 6 adults? This sounds like a no-go for my needs.
Hopefully they will get rid of the sofa bed and replace it with a murphy and make the bedroom less cramped. I would consider it if the points are low enough!
Cabin we rented had a Murphy bed.
Seems like DVC is taking over all the wdw resorts. Only one wing left at WL that isn’t DVC, Poly, etc.
WDW makes guaranteed money and hooks you in with selling DVC. All rooms are not booked then sell by the night as usual. But having DVC guarantees a family visit even in the years one may wish to forgo. (Yes, you can bank and borrow and all of that.) Try to use DVC points for Adventures By Disney or on a Disney Cruise. The return per point is terrible!! Again, “forcing” the visit to Orlando to get your money’s worth. And all the DVC room being added dilutes the resale possibilities if a family wishes to sell.
They continue to ruin the best resort in WDW.
They should have just stayed the course with the original concept for Reflections.
I don’t disagree with you! But I’m kind of excited to have something like this for an option.
Disney just can’t leave well enough alone. They ruined the contemporary resort and the refurbished grand Floridian rooms lack all of the pervious charm.
We just came back from our stay at Fort Wilderness Cabins. Our family absolutely loves staying here but the cost per night was increasing too fast for our family of 4. We actually have spoken to a DVC guide, toured Copper Creek and were considering buying a resale DVC contract there or buying direct at the new Disneyland Hotel but our heart is set on the Fort Wilderness Cabins. When we heard the news we decided to wait for the new DVC at Fort Wilderness Cabins, save more money and buy direct there. Our heart is set at Fort Wilderness.
Will Dvc resale be able to stay there?
Cheaper way to get DVC into the Fort. I am hoping they add to this and create DVC RV pads. RV spots/Port, with a building with a kitchen, maybe Tiki bar kind of thing. Since COVID so many people started Rving. We sold our DVC Wilderness lodge in place of RVing at Fort Wilderness 16 years ago.
Just leave Ft Wilderness
like it is.We always stay there,don’t need any changes.
I am so sad to hear this 🙁 We only stay at Fort Wilderness cabins when we visit. It is like a second home to us. We love the cabins. I wonder if there is a way to buy one of the cabins instead of them demolishing them
