Amy and I are new Orlando, Florida residents where we live with our dogs Odie the greyhound and Hermès the Spanish galgo. We are DVC owners at Animal Kingdom Lodge, BoardWalk Villas, Grand Californian, Grand Floridian, and Polynesian, Disney World Annual Passholders, and love educating Disney Vacation Club members on how to both use and maximize the value of their DVC points!

  • We are rather bourgeois like Jeff Haslam. The two of us like staying in 1 bedroom villas because we like the separate space (I tend to wake up early), kitchen and washer/dryer. When staying at Animal Kingdom (some of the easiest rooms to get because of size), we get savannah view because why stay at the edge of property if you are not going to look at animals. We managed to snag a 1 bdrm boardwalk view villa during the COVID times because why stay at BWV if you don’t have a boardwalk view.

Generally I can plan 11 months in advance. Where I have trouble is when I need multiple villas for a large family gathering. BLT is my goto resort because of the extra bathroom in 2 bdrm villas and the large inventory. (I need 3 2bdrm villas!) This past family gathering I switched at 7 months to Kidani village savannah view (which saved a few points over BLT lake view).

  • Great Show. I also have multiple bucket hats. Sorry I missed you guys at MoonLight so I could add to my collection.

We have been members since 1997 at Boardwalk! I have only recently found your show. We live in Seattle so we cannot do the small weekend type stays and have always gone for the one or two bedroom for at least 14 days. Our strategy was to go every other year and bank and borrow points to get the number of points needed. We even spent the month of December at a 1 bedroom at Old Key West. That was Magical. Of course this was before Pandemic in the early 2000’s where December was off season. Sigh.. Miss those days.

Now that we are older we added on at DisneyLand (first trip coming in 2/2025) and BLT. We love split stays with Boardwalk and BLT. Really helps to mix the trip up a bit. I was happy to hear that 1 bedrooms are easier to get since this is our room of choice.

I really hate to see all the DVC building going on. I don’t think the parks can stand the extra traffic. I know that there are plans for expansion which is sorely needed. However until that happens, Disney has added a bunch more rooms with no more park capacity. Makes for crowds 100% of the time. I say stop building and refurbish. (BLT anyone?)
