The latest DVC addition to the Walt Disney World Resort is the new Polynesian Villas DVC Tower, currently under construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. If you blinked, you might have missed all the exciting construction progress that has already taken place at this new resort.
We were on property last weekend and caught up on the construction progress!
As we assumed last month, construction is beginning to expand in each direction from the center core section of the new Polynesian DVC Tower. There are currently new concrete forms being set close to the Grand Floridian Wedding Pavilion. Foundation work is also beginning on the area closest to the existing Polynesian Villas.
Looking back at some of the original permitting I was reminded just how close this building will get to the Monorail! I have outlined the Monorail in yellow here to just show that perspective a bit more.
Although construction appears to be moving quickly, much of the finishing work both on the interior and exterior will likely take the longest. That said, I would not be surprised to see this open AFTER the recently announced Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness, and potentially be pushed to an early 2025 timeframe.
The tower’s design is inspired by early concepts of the Polynesian Resort and features a blend of modern amenities and island-style architecture. Each room appears to have a private balcony, and some villas will have stunning views of the Magic Kingdom and the evening fireworks. We previously shared our thoughts and hopes for this new resort when the project was originally announced.
The new Polynesian Villas DVC Tower is currently projected to open in late-2024. We can’t wait to share more progress of the resort along the way as construction continues!

April 27, 2023Sad the views and this area have been ruined by adding a multiple level structure. No more peace and solitude between the Poly and GF. Another change that makes it hard to book a return. We always stay at the GF and have embraced and loved this quiet area over the years. It is just like hotel row now.

April 27, 2023This is an eyesore. No structure on Poly property should be taller than the Grand Ceremonial House. Don’t buy into the story that this is based on original designs for the resort. Imagineers always have a way of justifying something much like how Guardians fits in Epcot, regardless of how great of a ride it may be. After Cast Members so it over and over, they actually start to believe it to.
