Practical Strategies for Paying Your DVC Annual Dues

Owning a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) membership is a dream come true for many Disney enthusiasts. It allows you to enjoy magical vacations at Disney resorts while offering an array of member-exclusive benefits. However, paying your DVC Annual Dues can sometimes feel like a daunting task. But fear not! We’ve gathered some practical strategies to help ease this financial commitment.

1. Use Discounted Disney Gift Cards

One of the most popular methods among DVC members for paying annual dues is using discounted Disney Gift Cards. These cards can be purchased at various retailers, often at a discount, and the savings can significantly reduce the overall cost of your dues.

For instance, if a retailer offers a 5% discount on Disney Gift Cards, and you use these to pay $1,000 worth of annual dues, you effectively save $50. Over the years (and as Add-on-Itis strikes and you buy more contracts), these savings will undoubtedly add up!

2. Leverage Credit Card Rewards

Another smart way to reduce your DVC Annual Dues is by using a credit card with strong rewards or cash-back benefits. Depending on your card, you could save up to an additional 5% or more off your dues if you use it to purchase those discounted Disney Gift Cards we mentioned earlier.

Some credit cards offer reward points for every dollar spent, which can be redeemed for travel, merchandise, or even cash back. Others might provide a percentage of cash back on all purchases. Be sure to understand your card’s benefits and use them strategically to maximize your savings.

3. Rent Out Your DVC Points

If coming up with the funds for your dues presents a more significant challenge, consider renting out your DVC Points through the DVC Rental Store. Members can earn up to $19 per point (depending on the resort), providing a substantial income that can then be allocated towards paying your DVC annual dues.

Renting out your points not only helps cover your dues but also ensures that your points don’t go to waste if you’re unable to use them.

A Friendly Reminder

Lastly, as a friendly reminder to all DVC members, Annual Dues are due on January 15th each year. If not paid by February 15th, they are considered “past due,” which may result in late fees or other penalties.

By leveraging these strategies, you can make paying your DVC Annual Dues less of a burden and more of a manageable part of owning your little piece of the Disney magic. Happy saving!
