As Hurricane Milton approaches, Walt Disney World has implemented several operational changes to ensure the safety of guests and cast members. These updates include phased theme park closures, resort hotel adjustments, and changes to transportation and recreation services over the next few days.
Theme Park Closures
On Wednesday, October 9, Walt Disney World theme parks and Disney Springs will begin closing in phases starting at 1 p.m.:
• Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1 p.m.
• Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney Springs will close at 2 p.m.
It is likely that theme parks will remain closed on Thursday, October 10, with the potential reopening of Disney Springs in the late afternoon, offering limited dining and shopping experiences. Additionally, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party scheduled for October 10 at Magic Kingdom has been canceled. Guests with event tickets will receive full refunds.
Resort Hotel Closures
In preparation for the storm, certain Disney Resort Hotels will temporarily close:
• Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will close at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, and are expected to remain closed until Sunday, October 13.
Transportation
Walt Disney World transportation services will cease operation after the theme parks and Disney Springs close on Wednesday. Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi services will remain available for guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels.
Recreation Closures
The following recreational areas will be closed on Wednesday, October 9:
• Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon
• Winter Summerland Miniature Golf
• Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf
Additionally, Disney’s Blizzard Beach remains closed for planned refurbishment.
Dining and Experience Reservations
• Effective immediately, Walt Disney World will not enforce cancellation policies for dining and other pre-booked experiences until further notice.
• Any pre-paid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.
