First Look: Refurbished Bay Lake Tower Rooms Impress With Vibrant Updates

We’ve gotten our first look at the refurbished rooms at Bay Lake Tower! Thanks to Tim Woods for sharing these amazing photos in our DVC Fan Facebook Group of a refurbished Dedicated 2-Bedroom Theme Park View Room on the 8th Floor of Bay Lake Tower! Refurbishment of Bay Lake Tower began in September 2024 and is anticipated to run through September 2025, but today, we’re thrilled to share our initial impressions as some of the first refurbished rooms have been released.

Let’s dive into the updates and highlights of this exciting refurbishment:

Living Room Enhancements

One of the standout changes in the living room is the addition of Murphy Beds! The old couch bed and sleeper chair are gone, replaced by a Queen Pull-Down Murphy Bed behind the couch and a new single pull-down Murphy Bed located under the Smart TV. These updates not only provide more comfortable sleeping options but also maintain the sleek design of the space.

The Queen Murphy Bed reveals Tomorrowland-inspired artwork featuring Space Mountain and what appears to be Tron: Lightcycle/Run. Below the TV, the single Murphy Bed incorporates an etched image of the iconic Contemporary Resort, celebrating the resort’s history.

Other notable features in the living room include a fun egg-shaped chair and other vibrant Mary Blair-inspired art. For those unfamiliar, Mary Blair was a legendary Disney artist known for her bold and colorful designs, many of which influenced classic attractions like “It’s a Small World.” We believe the new art may have been done by Disney Artist Joey Chou, whose vibrant style perfectly complements the room’s theme. The updated carpet, vibrant with geometric shapes and colorful patterns, ties the room together beautifully.

Kitchen Updates

The kitchen has also received a stunning refresh. The aqua tile backsplash immediately catches your eye, adding a bright and modern flair. The cabinets maintain a darker tone but now feature frosted glass panels, lightening the overall appearance.

Gone is the old booth-style table; in its place is an oval-shaped dining table with two chairs and a long booth seat. Above the table hangs a breathtaking piece of art depicting Magic Kingdom, complete with Dumbo, the teacups, “It’s a Small World,” and I’m sure even more delightful Easter eggs for fans to discover. New appliances, including a Keurig Duo, round out the upgrades, offering both drip-style and K-Cup coffee options.

Main Bedroom Transformation

The main bedroom has shed its bulky old furniture for lighter teak finishes and a modern, minimalist look. The leather headboard is simple yet stylish, and the accent wall’s subtle geometric patterns add depth and sophistication.

We’re thrilled to see the addition of vibrant throw pillows, which bring the perfect splash of color to the room. However, fans of workspaces may miss the removed desk, which has been replaced with a comfortable lounge chair.

Bathroom Overhaul

The main bathroom reveals just how far this refurbishment has gone. A wall has been added by the large soaking tub, replacing the sliding partitions that once opened into the main bedroom.

The bathroom mirror features etched Contemporary-inspired artwork reminiscent of the glass panels behind the bar at the Top of the World Lounge, creating a cohesive theme throughout the room and resort. The bathroom also includes a toilet closet and a glass-enclosed shower, completing the modernized look.

Second Bedroom & Bath

The second bedroom follows the same stylish updates, featuring platform beds with leather bedframes and the same vibrant design touches as the main bedroom. We can’t confirm specifics, but it appears there are updated charging stations in the rooms as well, ensuring plenty of USB and USB-C ports for all your devices.

The second bathroom echoes the modern feel, with sleek fixtures, bright lighting, and more geometric accents, especially on the shower curtain!

Final Thoughts

For anyone disappointed by the lack of color in the recent BoardWalk refurbishment, rest assured—this Bay Lake Tower update brings the vibrancy and magic in spades. The Mary Blair-inspired artwork, thoughtful nods to the Contemporary Resort’s history, and practical updates like the Murphy Beds all combine to create a room that is both functional and stunning.

We’re especially excited about the details—the Magic Kingdom art above the dining table, the aqua tile backsplash, and even the etched designs on the Murphy Beds show the care and creativity that went into this refurbishment by Imagineers.

Thanks again to Tim Woods for sharing these room photos! We’re excited to check them out as more rooms are released throughout 2025. Hi! Do you know if they’ve added towel racks in the bathrooms? It’s always been an issue when you do have 5 people staying in a 1 bedroom. We were also wondering where people can store their stuff if the drawers under the living room tv are now a bed. Have they addressed the storage issue?

You can see in the photos towel racks in the bathrooms. Also, there’s drawer storage to the right of the Murphy Bed in the living room.

Thank you. I see the towel racks. They were there before. We were just hoping for more than what they originally had since it can be challenging for 5 people, especially with 3 using the smaller bathroom. The three drawers next to the bed could also be interesting for the 3 people who stay/sleep in the living room for 7-10 days. I’m not sure how much they can hold. We were just hoping for more with the refurb and instead actually lost storage with the bed now under the tv.

Thank you for everything you guys do. We love watching your shows and appreciate everything you do! (Congrats on your new house!)

Is the extra bathroom still there? One thing we love about a BLT 2bdroom is that it had 3 bathrooms.

I’m excited to see the new updates. I LOVE the art work, lighting, and the egg chair. However, it looks to me like they have hung the curtains on the windows backwards.

Disney usually does a great job on the curtain design and this just looks like the black out backing to me. I see a hint of teal color and design around the edge that matches the color of the pillows. I think the colored side of the curtain was meant to face into the room. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’d prefer to see what’s on the other side of the curtains.

Can’t wait to see what the studios look like!

I think they played the retro-modern look pretty well. My only complaint is that the cabinet beneath the living room TV (with the monorail on it) looks pretty boxy.
