DVC Show: 2024 Disney Vacation Club Highlights + What We’re Hoping for in 2025!

December 30, 2024Just a few thoughts on topics mentioned during the show:
Driving at night — There is nothing you can do about the glare from oncoming vehicles. You CAN upgrade your headlights with after market LEDs. I have done this and it makes a big difference.
Ticket Discounts — Probably everyone knew this except me. At the tail end of COVID I was able to purchase vouchers for DVC annual pass for me, my wife, my daughter (she is listed on the deeds), and her live in boyfriend. This year I could not purchase on-line and had to call member services where I was informed that it was not sufficient to be living in the same household (with government IDs giving the same address) but had to be related, married, or in a domestic partnership. (I asked how this would be determined and was told a certificate for domestic partnership would need to be produced. Right.) I paid an additional $500 because I would not lie to Disney.
I am with Jeff that if I could get discount day tickets for everyone on my reservation, I would buy Member Extras today.
New Epcot front of park resort — only works if there is walking access (15 minutes) to Epcot entrance OR monorail station at the resort. [It would be a hike to walk from Kidani Village to Animal Kingdom, but if I could I would.]
2042 will be an interesting year. I expect DVC will refurb and resale all resorts rather than offer an extension (OKW left a bad taste). OTOH, BCV and BWV have a superior location to OKW so some sort of extension may be in the cards if just to allow DVC to stage refurb across the resorts.
