Interval International will replace RCI as the exclusive exchange provider for Disney Vacation Club, effective Jan. 1, 2022.
In an email to members, Bill Diercksen, Senior Vice President & General Manager Disney Vacation Club, and Aulani stated:
Dear Member,
At Disney Vacation Club, we know how much you enjoy exploring destinations and experiences beyond your Home Resorts. Our team is dedicated to helping you create unforgettable vacation memories around the world. That’s why we’re thrilled to name Interval International as our exclusive new exchange provider for traditional exchanges, effective Jan. 1, 2022.
This new relationship will offer you a broad range of resort experiences, providing flexible and diverse opportunities in amazing locations across Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, as well as destinations closer to home including the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Through Interval International, you will have access to thousands of resorts including a specially curated portfolio of high-quality properties selected especially for Members. This expanded portfolio includes well-known resorts offered by Marriott, Sheraton, Hyatt and Westin, to name a few.
In the meantime, you can continue to book nightly and weekly exchanges in the traditional exchanges through our current program until Dec. 31, 2021. Additionally, any confirmed reservations or points that have been deposited to RCI will be honored through 2023. If you have confirmed exchanges with RCI, deposited points with RCI or made a booking with RCI using cash, you can always review your activity on the Member website.

Disney Vacation Club’s partnership with RCI began January 1st, 2009. Prior to this, DVC was previously partnered with Interval International.
While providing members with another opportunity to use their DVC points, RCI has been met with scrutiny over the years due to the program’s limited value, availability, and points limitations. The RCI Exchange program was discussed in-depth on a recent episode of The DVC Show:
According to Interval International’s website, “Interval International operates membership programs for vacationers and provides value-added services to its developer clients and homeowners’ associations. The exchange network comprises more than 3,200 resorts in over 80 nations. Through offices in 13 countries, Interval offers high-quality products and benefits to resort clients and nearly 2 million families who are enrolled in various membership programs.”
In a previous comparison between RCI and Interval International (II), TimeShareGame.com concluded that Interval International had five times the availability of RCI, but that on average, RCI cost 40% less than a similar booking with Interval International.

December 6, 2021I have used Interval International in the past when it was part of DVC. I have always missed it since DVC went over to RCI. The quality of the resorts is far superior to anything that RCI has. The first time I used Interval International was quite a number of years ago, and it was at the Arizona Biltmore. Some of our presidents actually stayed there.

December 6, 2021We had Interval with another timeshare property. Yes, they have lots of properties, but getting an exchange anywhere but Orlando, Williamsburg, or a few other areas with lots of timeshares is problematic, even if you’re working months ahead. There’s a hefty membership fee and a 99 dollar booking fee for most exchanges. Not really a good alternative to my mind!

December 6, 2021I’ve been an Interval International member since 2003 a one year membership is the most costly. A 3 year membership is a better deal ( per yr cost) and a 5 year membership is the best deal. The 5 yr plan I’m currently enrolled in is about $63/yr.
I’m not aware of a $99 booking fee unless you are exchanging your resort for a resort with an additional bedroom. So if I get a studio or a 1 bedroom, no fee. If I get a 2 bedroom for my 1 bedroom I do pay an additional $99.
