In light of ongoing debates and uncertainty, I thought it would be helpful to unpack some of the facts we have currently as it relates to the new Polynesian tower and whether it will be part of a new or the existing Disney Vacation Club association. Let’s uncover some of the data we have learned up until this point.
December 7, 2023: DVC Condo Association Meeting announces plans for Polynesian tower to join the same resort:
When asked during the 2023 Condo Association Meeting if the Polynesian Tower will become part of the existing Polynesian Association, Disney Vacation Club Board Member, Yvonne Chang, let the crowd know they were happy to announce their plans were for it to become part of the existing resort. This news was met with a round of applause and cheers from owners in the crowd. While many speculate over the use of the word “resort”, the question posted by the constituents to the board used the word “association”.
March 30, 2024: Disney exercises ROFR on the first Polynesian contract since early 2021:
In March of this year, Disney began exercising Right of First Refusal on the first Polynesian contract in years. Prior to this, the last Polynesian contract was taken in April of 2021. Since then, six Polynesian contracts being sold by DVC Resale Market have been claimed by Disney in the ROFR process. The highest price taken in March was $135 per point while the highest taken in April was $144 per point. In the past year, only Grand Floridan and Polynesian have had contracts bought back by DVC.

April 9, 2024: Permits filed by DVC use same parcel ID as the existing Association.
Permits filed by Disney Vacation Club for work on the new tower utilize the same Parcel ID as Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Parcel IDs are used for tax identification.
May 1, 2024: Spring Disney Files Arrives with Message from Bill Diercksen
Bill Diercksen, Senior Vice President of Disney Vacation Club & Aulani, reflects on the company continuing to make changes and improvements. In the address, he discusses upcoming DVC resorts including stating “…a new tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows”. When referring to the Disney resort as a whole, the Polynesian is known as Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The legal description for the existing association is Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.

For comparison, I’ve included the legal description as it shows on our current Polynesian deed below.

There is still a lot of uncertainty among the DVC community if the Polynesian tower will be part of the existing association or not. While we have made it clear that we strongly believe it will become part of the same association, I wanted to present a timeline of facts to let you arrive at your own conclusions.
