Promenade Fine Art Gallery, a beloved fixture for 30 years on Disney’s BoardWalk, is closing its long-time location – but that’s not the full story.
In a heartfelt message on social media, gallery owner Joshua Segal revealed plans to reopen very close by, though Disney has asked for a bit more patience before the official announcement. In the meantime, the gallery will operate much like they did during the Covid break, offering online specials, virtual shows, and possibly even a pop‑up location.
The last day at the BoardWalk location is October 31st, before transitioning operations November 1st until the new space is ready. Prominade will also be back at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts in January and February. And once the new location opens? Expect a huge grand‑opening party that fans can look forward to. Segal closed with sincere gratitude to his loyal patrons.
“After 30 years at Disney’s Boardwalk, our gallery will be moving to a new location VERY CLOSE BY! … Our last day here at the Boardwalk is October 31st … Once we’re in our new permanent location, we will have a huge grand opening party that you are all invited to! … Thank you for your continued loyalty and support … It’s going to be awesome!!!” — Joshua Segal
What This Means for DVC Members and BoardWalk Fans
As a longtime fan of Disney’s BoardWalk and a regular DVC visitor, I’ve got to admit – this one stings a little. Promenade Fine Art Gallery has been a staple of the BoardWalk Villas side for decades. And now? With Prominade closing on October 31st, Screen Door General Store will be the last man standing on that stretch.
Let’s take stock for a moment:
- Big River Grille shuttered in 2024.
- Jellyrolls Dueling Piano Bar took its final bow earlier this year.
- And now, Promenade is packing up and moving out.
That leaves a pretty big question mark hovering over this part of the BoardWalk.
Maybe it’s just normal change… or maybe, just maybe, there’s something more brewing. One thing that makes me think it could be the latter? This year’s DVC Halloween Meet & Treat, normally held at the Atlantic Dance Hall, has been moved elsewhere. That’s not exactly a hopping spot year-round (unless you ask Jeff Haslam!), but the timing feels… interesting.
Could this all be pointing toward a major renovation, or even my wish of a possible new DVC Tower coming to BoardWalk?
So Where’s Promenade Headed Next?
Joshua didn’t spill the beans just yet, but he did say the new location is “VERY CLOSE BY.” Of course, that sent my brain spinning with possibilities. Here are my top three guesses:
1. Disney Springs
An obvious choice. Visibility, high foot traffic, and plenty of opportunity to attract new customers. But here’s the catch: rent is likely sky-high, and Disney Springs hasn’t always been kind to boutique-style shops. Plus, it already has a Disney Fine Art store. Would they really want direct competition?
2. Grand Floridian’s Tea Room Area
This is my top pick. It checks a lot of boxes: elegant vibe, next to upscale shopping, and just steps away from a lobby currently getting a serious facelift – new birdcage bar, refreshed interiors, and more. It’s a great fit stylistically, and it would bring some life to a space that’s been underused since before the pandemic.
3. Lakeshore Lodge (the DVC resort under development)
Okay, this one’s a bit of a wild card, but hear me out. It’s going to be one of the largest resorts on property, and adding some specialty retail like Promenade could really help round out the experience. Could Disney be planning something bigger for retail at Lakeshore? Who knows, but it’s fun to dream.
Quick Recap: What You Need to Know
- Promenade Fine Art Gallery’s last day on the BoardWalk is October 31, 2025.
- The gallery is relocating close by, though the new spot hasn’t been officially revealed.
- During the transition, they’ll operate virtually and possibly through a pop-up.
- Expect to see them back at the 2026 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.
- The closure adds to a growing list of vacancies on the BoardWalk Villas side—possibly hinting at larger changes to come.
Final Thoughts
It’s always tough to see a long-standing part of the Disney experience fade away, but this feels like more than just a routine closure. Between Promenade’s move, the empty storefronts, and the shifted DVC events, I can’t help but feel like something big is coming to BoardWalk.
Will it be a new DVC addition? Something else? Time will tell, but I’ll be keeping my eyes (and ears) open.
In the meantime, let us know your thoughts in the comments. Where do you think Promenade is headed? Are you hoping for new additions to the BoardWalk? And will you be stopping by before October 31 for one last look?

August 29, 2025When we were visiting in May one of the cast members hinted at a big revitalization at the Boardwalk was in the works and that Rix Sportsbar was in the mix.

August 29, 2025I have felt a change to the BW area. It is not as much a fun area as it used to be.
Definitely do not want to see an addition to BW, such as a tower!
Miss the places which have left and not so thrilled with the additions.
