Take a Walk Part 2: Lesser Known Walking Paths Between DVC Resorts

Many DVC owners love that they can walk from Bay Lake Tower to Magic Kingdom or Epcot and Hollywood Studios from Boardwalk and Beach Club. Walkability is a huge selling factor for those resorts. For other DVC resorts, however, there are lesser-known paths that can bring you more dining and entertainment options just a walk away. If you are like us and prefer to walk, here are little known paths to use around the DVC resorts.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House to Kidani Village:  While there’s an internal shuttle connecting the two resorts, many don’t realize how quick and easy the walking path from Kidani Village to Jambo House can be. The path is to the left if you’re leaving Kidani and the right if you’re exiting from Jambo House. You will see signs posted, but it’s as easy as following the sidewalk alongside the resorts, plus it’s illuminated to use at night. Next time you’re staying at Jambo House and craving Sanaa, take a quick walk, and you’ll be eating Indian bread service in no time.

Old Key West to Saratoga Springs: While this is a longer path with about a 20-minute walk, the path connecting Old Key West and Saratoga Springs is worth taking. It’s a nature trail that runs alongside the waterway. Our walk down this path was peaceful and scenic. You can find the beginning of the path in Old Key West at the end of Peninsular Road between buildings 55 and 56. In Saratoga Springs, the path starts behind the carriage house where you’ll see a footbridge. If you’re staying in the treehouse villas, there is an additional bridge there that also connects to the path. It is important to note that due to lack of lighting, this path is only open during daylight hours.

Polynesian to Grand Floridian: This is one of my favorite walking paths on property. The views from this path of the Seven Seas Lagoon, Magic Kingdom, and area resorts are stunning, especially at night. We took this path back to our Polynesian studio after dinner at Victoria & Albert’s, and it was the perfect end to such a great night. It’s a quick walk along the water available day and night. When the walking path from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom is complete, you could use this to walk from the Polynesian to the Magic Kingdom as well.

Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness: As of right now, reports are that amidst Reflections construction, this path is currently closed. My hope is that once construction is complete, this pathway is able to open back up. This is a great path if you’re staying at Copper Creek or Boulder Ridge since you could take it to Fort Wilderness for the many activities offered there or for (one of our favorites) the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. To find this trail, simply walk past the bus stop until you see the sidewalk that continues on to the path. This path takes you right up to the area where Pioneer Hall (Hoop Dee Doo) is located. It’s around a one-mile walk; however, like the Old Key West to Saratoga Springs path, this one is also not lighted and therefore closes at dusk. Be on the lookout for the possible reopening of this path.

Amy and Paul own DVC at some of their favorite resorts: BoardWalk, Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom, Polynesian, and Grand Californian. Another passion for them is cruising. They love both Disney and Royal Caribbean cruises. It's a great way to travel and see parts of the world.

  • I wish they would build one from the Wilderness Lodge to the TTC, making an already fantastic resort better.

  • My fav walking path used to be the nature trail, the unpaved lakeside one between WL & FW. So sad it closed permanently with the construction of the WL cabins.

    • Oh no, I really liked that path also. Didn’t realize it was closed. I don’t stay at WLV but we have made the trip over there just for the walk.

  • The walking path from Disney Springs Resort and Disney Springs is beautiful at night especially when walking on the resort side.

  • I like to take the path from OKW to SSR in the morning to get breakfast at SSR. Artist’s Palette has such a better selection for breakfast. I love OKW, but they really need to do something with the quick service options.
