They might be playing the NCAA Tournament without spectators, but who really is here to talk about basketball? Let’s debate DVC Resorts!

In the spirit of March Madness (I think I have to pay to use those words), we will be holding our first annual DVC Fan Madness Bracket Challenge over the next few weeks. Here are the specifics:

The Question

In considering how to best set up our bracket challenge we felt that it was both unfair and may become too heated of a topic to debate our “favorite” DVC Resort. In the end, with the help of Corey Fiasconaro we settled for the following question:

“Which Disney Vacation Club Resort would you rather vacation this Summer?”

Over the course of four rounds, we will pair DVC Resorts head-to-head to determine what is the number one Disney Vacation Club destination this Summer!

The Rankings

In setting our initial rankings, we used the average percentages on The DIS Walt Disney World Resort Reviews and Ratings page. We felt this offered a fair ranking since it took into consideration the reviews of hundreds of fans and DVC owners.

I’ll save the suspense of the rankings and our initial pairings for next week, but think it’s fair to let you know which resorts ranked #1 and #2, and thus will receive a bye in the first round of voting:

#1 – Disney’s Copper Creek Villas & Cabins

#2 – Disney’s Riviera Resort

These should be of no real surprise, as they represent both the newest and highly popular DVC Resorts at this time. It will be curious to see, though, if they fair equally well given the unique style of question we are asking.

“The First Two”

Similar to the NCAA Tournament, in order to have a perfectly balanced bracket, we need a “play-in” game in order to eliminate a team and narrow down the field.

That brings us to our first poll of our DVC Fan Madness Bracket Challenge:

Disney’s Vero Beach vs. Disney’s Hilton Head Island

As off-property resorts, Hilton Head and Vero Beach often struggle with popularity but offer a beautiful, unique, and relaxing vacation destination for Disney Vacation Club Members.

Please remember when voting that we are asking you to choose which Disney Vacation Club Resort you would rather vacation this Summer.

Voting for our “play-in” round will end at 11:59 pm, EST on Saturday, March 14th.

Stay tuned over the weekend to the DVC Fan Facebook Group where we will announce the winner that will be advancing to round one!

Round 1 of the DVC Fan Madness Bracket Challenge tips off next Thursday, March 19th!

Let us know in the comments what you think of our DVC Fan Madness Bracket Challenge and who you believe our winner will be!

  • This is a fun idea. Thanks!
For play in game I’d go with Vero. I went in the summer last year during sea turtle nesting season and that brings an extra experience you can’t find in any resort ! I even took my daughter out in a kayak and we saw some sea turtles swimming !

  • I have never stayed in either, so I am judging only by the look of the hotel. My vote would go to Vero Beach as it looks just like my favourite Florida hotel (Wilderness Lodge)

  • I would stay at Vero Beach in the summer time

  • I’ve never been to Hilton Head. I’ve been to Vero beach a couple of times and I like that the beach is right there. So that would be my choice. Plus enjoyed the fact that I learned a lot of history about the Treasure coast and went to Mel Fisher’s museum.

  • Own at HHI been to Vero twice. Not even close HHI and BTW HHI as a play-in-game is a joke….

  • Hilton Head is amazing, but I missed the chance to vote for it. I voted for the next round! This is so much fun!
