Originally rumored to be October 1st, we have now learned that Disney Vacation Club plans to increase their minimum direct ownership requirement to qualify for Membership Extras to 125 points, effective Monday, October 19th, 2020. While no official announcement has been made by Disney or Disney Vacation Club at this time, multiple owners have reported hearing from their guides that an increase is on the way. News of this has also been swirling this past month over on DISboards. Despite earlier dates being suggested, we are now hearing that they have settled on October 19th for the increase to roll out. We expect this information to be updated on the Disney Vacation Club website shortly before it goes into effect.
This direct minimum increase appears to be turning into a yearly occurrence, as we last saw the minimum raised from 75 points to 100 points in September 2019. Previously, DVC had not raised the direct minimum for Membership Extras and perks since February 2018. Prior to that, members were only required to have 25 direct points to qualify for benefits, showing a drastic increase in this requirement in just a few short years.
Last year Pete Werner shared his thoughts on DVC Fan of why we were seeing these minimums continue to increase. Check out that article here!
It is expected that all current blue cardholders will continue to be grandfathered into this increase, as seen with previous increases.

This would be beyond shortsighted. Would a new DVC member buying in direct at 100 points be willing to accept not having those extras, or are they going to raise that minimum too?
