Update 4/2/2021: Check out our latest Saratoga Springs refurbishment and construction update from April 2021!
Following up on our last construction update, Amy and I recently took another stroll through Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa to check out the latest refurbishment of the resort and get a feel for what rooms and buildings have been completed so far!
Construction on this massive overhaul of the resort began in June 2019. New features being added as part of the renovations include all new furniture, flooring, appliances, and more, including pull-down murphy beds, similar to those featured at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Exterior painting is also being performed as part of the project.
As announced at this year’s DVC Condo Association Meeting, refurbishment is continuing to progress at Saratoga Springs, with a target completion date of Summer 2021.
In our last update, we reported that the refurbishment to Congress Park and The Springs had completed, making booking a room in the “preferred” category an easy guarantee that you will snag a sparkling new villa!
Construction at Saratoga Springs has now reached the final stages in the first standard section of the resort – The Paddock. Teams have worked throughout the Fall from left to right throughout this area, with buildings in various stages of their refurbishment:
- 4501-4836: Refurbishment Completed.
- 5101-5436: Refurbishment Completed.
- 5501-5836: Refurbishment Completed.
- 6101-6436: Exterior Complete. Interior rooms still being renovated.
- 6501-6936: Exterior painting underway.
With the remaining two buildings of The Paddock currently out of inventory, it is safe to say that if you are booking Preferred or request a Standard room in The Paddock, you should guarantee yourself a refurbished villa!
For those visual learners out there, we created the map below to highlight all the refurbished or “New” villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa thus far:

After completing work on The Paddock, construction will move to the remaining two sections of the resort – The Grandstand and The Carousel, which have six more buildings. While no official word has been given to our knowledge, we do not believe the Treehouse Villas will undergo a refurbishment as part of this project. In total, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort has over 800 villas and is the largest Disney Vacation Club property at Walt Disney World.
If you are planning a Summer trip to Saratoga Springs, we feel it is highly likely that all rooms will either be completed or in the progress of refurbishment at that time, meaning you should definitely enjoy a fresh new villa for your vacation.
Let us know in the comments if you have had the opportunity to stay in a refurbished room at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and what you think of the updated accommodations!
Why are we thinking of the treehouses not being redone? Aren’t they part of the resort and have to be included in the remodel plans as part of the contract just like the other rooms?
So Saratoga Springs was built in stages due to its size. While the main part of the resort began to open in 2004, the Treehouse Villas were in Phase 4 of the construction of the resort and did not open until June 1, 2009. For that reason, its refurb schedule is likely much different than the main resorts.
Awesome thank you I did not know that.:) It was my first contract with dvc and bought resale a few years ago l. We have stayed once and thought it was nice to be close to Disney Springs, but didn’t love the room. Excited to see the new rooms in person
Looking at videos of the refurbished rooms, we noticed they have soaker tubs rather than the old Jacuzzis. Are whirlpool tubs too high maintenance, or too expensive to be used on the new cost conscious rehabs of DVC villas? Our last (refurbished) Beach Club villa didn’t have a whirlpool tub either, and we definitely needed one after a full walking tour of EPCOT! But the last time we were at Old Key West we got a rehabbed room and it had an even larger whirlpool than before. Sign me confused.
I think cleaning and maintenance have a large role to play in why they’ve gone away.
I’m booked for a Standard 1 Bedroom in March, what are the chances of getting a refurbished room? I requested to be 1) near the carriage house and 2) near the pool; Hoping that we get “The Springs” or “The Paddock” I know we can’t get Congress Park (Sigh). As well is the Bridge to Disney Springs open to go to and from Saratoga Springs?
