Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will begin welcoming Disney Vacation Club members again starting May 2, 2021! Similar to the resort’s original reopening plans, this reopening period is only for DVC Members and their guests. The remainder of the resort will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
Disney Vacation Club’s announcement states:
“The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is currently scheduled to reopen beginning May 2, 2021. While the Disney Vacation Club Villas will open for Members and their guests, the rest of the resort, as well as The Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, remain closed for normal operations. The Downtown Disney District is open with select shopping and dining experiences. We invite you to visit Disneyland.com for the latest details about the phased reopening plans for Disneyland Resort.”– Disney Vacation Club
The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa were originally scheduled to reopen on December 6th, 2020. This date was then postponed as a result of new stay-at-home guidelines set forth by the State of California.

Very stoked right now!
As a Southern California local, I’ve always had more flexibility to use my points here, and often grab whatever dates for a studio (or lately, more likely a one-bedroom) I can get. But obviously those staycations haven’t been an option for a while.
I had been feeling confident my mid-September stay would actually happen, but who knows in this Covid age.
Walt Disney World’s Hotels are some of my favorite places on Earth, but DLR’s Grand Californian stands above them all in my opinion, only challenged for Disney supremacy by Aulani.
Very happy with this announcement.
