Disney Vacation Club looks to be taking a new strategy of ‘flipping’ contracts with Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Coupled with their recent buyback offer to current owners, DVC quietly raised the direct price per point for new purchases at Old Key West to $180 per point, effective Thursday, September 9th.
Resort | Previous Direct Price | New Direct Price | Increase |
Disney’s Old Key West Resort | $170 | $180 | + $10 |
New OKW Pricing and Sales Strategy?
This marks the second increase in less than three months for the Old Key West, which saw its price increase from $165 to $170 per point back in July 2021.
Old Key West continues to represent a great entry option for new members at a slightly lower price. This, coupled with the need to get more of the resort converted to the 2057 extension expiration date, has given DVC a unique opportunity. By aggressively buying back contracts and ‘flipping’ them, they can solve both problems at once. It also creates an appealing option for those not interested in or unable to afford the cost of purchasing at Disney’s Riviera Resort or Aulani.
Current Direct DVC Prices
Animal Kingdom Villas and Grand Floridian remain the only resorts that have not seen a direct sold-out price increase over the past twelve months.
That being said, we thought this would be a good time to take a full look at where direct pricing currently stands for all Disney Vacation Club properties:
Resort | Direct Price |
Animal Kingdom Villas | $186 per point |
Aulani | $201 per point |
Bay Lake Tower | $245 per point |
Beach Club Villas | $245 per point |
BoardWalk Villas | $210 per point |
Boulder Ridge | $190 per point |
Copper Creek Villas | $225 per point |
Grand Californian | $310 per point |
Grand Floridian | $255 per point |
Hilton Head | $140 per point |
Old Key West | $180 per point |
Polynesian | $250 per point |
Riviera | $201 per point |
Saratoga Springs | $180 per point |
Vero Beach | $125 per point |
These amounts are all well above the average sales prices that can be paid by purchasing a Disney Vacation Club contract on the DVC resale market. As of August, Old Key West had an average resale price of $125 per point. This represents a savings of approximately $55 per point as compared to direct costs.
