Disney’s BoardWalk Villas are said to be getting a refurbishment soon, according to an alert on the DVC website!

No specific timeline has been given for the refurbishment, but it is rumored to be happening sometime in the next year. A recent alert added to the Disney Vacation Club website reads:

“Disney’s BoardWalk Inn & Villas Refurbishment – Disney’s BoardWalk Inn & Villas is being refurbished, with new offerings, plus updates coming to our Guest rooms, lobby and more. Please note that while most hotel amenities will remain available, you may be able to see and hear construction during daytime hours. Additionally, please allow for additional travel time.”

Earlier this year, it was announced that Disney’s BoardWalk would be getting a makeover in the coming years, with updates to the lobby, as well as new food and beverage options coming to the resort. Work has already begun in converting the old Dundy’s Sundries gift shop into a coffee shop.

Disney has not yet made an official announcement about the plans or shared concept art for these updates to the villas.

The BoardWalk Villas is one of the most popular Disney Vacation Club resorts due to its prime location near many of the parks and attractions at Walt Disney World. Guests can enjoy easy access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The BoardWalk area is also home to restaurants, shops, and multiple entertainment venues.

Recent guests of the BoardWalk Villas have been in agreement that the resort is beginning to show its age and in need of a much overdue refurbishment.

  • We had a one bedroom at Boardwalk over 4th of July and it did not look like it needed refurbishment. Were some villas refurbished in the last couple of years?

  • ‘Bout time!

  • Starting August 9, 2023, all Boardwalk view rooms from studios to the grand villas are not available for bookings! I have never seen such a large group of rooms removed from inventory at the same time.

  • I am so excited about the refurb to the BWV! It is one of our favorite locations and we stay every year. Disney, please include some improvements to the Pizza from the takeout window and more options to the coffee/bar area on the second floor lobby.

  • Seems like predecessor to starting the transition to 2057’s for the resort.

    • please elaborate on the transition to 2057’s

  • Sorry to keep bothering you guys, but why doesn’t the DVCfan podcast get updated weekly? I guess it must be kind of a pain, but I try to listen every week but it seems like it just gets updated incredibly haphazardly. Can you do it every week, like every other dvc podcast? Or have you guys lost interest? Or am I the only one listening? Help!

    • Hi Paul – We haven’t recorded a show in a few weeks due to the hurricane but should have a new episode up next week! We’re also trying to see why the audio podcast is not updating as it should be. Thanks for reaching out!

  • So, we were just in a one bedroom boardwalk view a week ago (room 4001) and it was just terrible. We’ve been staying there and there ONLY since we joined DVC in 1998 and this is the worst I’ve seen things. One bedside lamp wasn’t working, the ceiling in the shower was peeling and hanging down, a couple of tiles around the outside of the shower were missing, the one bathroom sink drained VERY slowly, the mattress sagged to a center “hole”, the jets in the tub weren’t working. We reported all of this to the front desk on day 2 and after 2 more days of complaining about the mattress THAT was the only thing fixed during our 16 night stay. However, during our stay, they did change out the furniture in the belle vue lounge for the worse. It’s a horrible color and design that doesn’t match the time period the hotel is supposed to be in. The furniture is uncomfortable and all the women in the lounge were too short for the chairs and sofas (our feet dangled). Plus, we noticed that with the closure of ESPN, there were lots of loud, yelling, drunk men in Belle vue on several nights. We are from NJ and this certainly felt like home now lol. Very sad.
