DVC Moonlight Magic- Typhoon Lagoon REVIEW

As a Disney Vacation Club member, we love getting to experience Moonlight Magic events in the parks. However, until this past Tuesday, I had yet to experience any Disney water park. I was very excited that my first Typhoon Lagoon experience would be during a Moonlight Magic event.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side, and it rained (and stormed) the entire time. However, we didn’t let the weather dampen our spirits. We were a little surprised with some lightning in the background, Disney kept everything going. My only assumption is that the lightning was further away than we realized. We were still able to have a great time.

Snacks

There were no snack vouchers at this event like they have for the theme parks. But free snacks such as popcorn and ice cream bars were available throughout the night. In addition, you received a souvenir cup upon entering that could be used for free fountain drinks. The quick service restaurants remained open to purchase food with some unique menu items.

Characters

We did see some awesome characters come out, including Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, and Sebastian.

Attractions

The best part of the event were the low crowds. Most likely due to the rain, this Moonlight Magic had less in attendance than we are used to. We not only enjoyed the unique attractions with little to no wait, but also the wave pool and lazy river had plenty of space. One of the highlights of the water park is the wave pool, which was both intense and quite scary, but a lot of fun. In the wave pool, we got to interact with some awesome people from the DVC Fan community. And trying to hold a conversation when you’re about to be mowed over by water is as interesting as it sounds!

All in all, we had a fantastic time at Typhoon Lagoon. Even with the rain and lightning, it was an experience we won’t forget anytime soon. It just goes to show that you don’t need perfect weather to have fun at a water park. This event was pretty identical to the special ticketed H2O Glow Nights Disney hosts here, which normally costs around $80 per person with tax, so it’s cool to think that DVC members in attendance got to experience the same thing for free through the membership magic events.

It’s events like this that remind us why we love being DVC members. If you’re thinking about attending a DVC Moonlight Magic event, we highly recommend it. You won’t regret it!
