Details Emerge for Disney Lakeshore Lodge

Disney Lakeshore Lodge Is Coming to Walt Disney World

A brand new Disney resort is officially on the way. Disney Lakeshore Lodge is set to open in summer 2027 at Walt Disney World Resort, bringing a nature inspired retreat to the shores of Bay Lake.

Disney Parks Blog has launched a new “Letters from Lakeshore” series to document the resort’s development, giving fans a behind the scenes look as the project comes to life. Here is what we know so far and what it could mean for Disney Vacation Club Members.

What Is Disney Lakeshore Lodge?

Disney Lakeshore Lodge is a newly announced waterfront resort that blends natural beauty with classic Disney storytelling. While we previously reported no mention of DVC in the DVC Parks Blog, a Press Release from Newswire added a quote from DVC President Bill Diercksen solidifying the previous knowledge that Disney Lakeshore Lodge will include a DVC component.

According to Newswire:

“We’re excited to share our vision for Disney Lakeshore Lodge, a place where the magic of Disney storytelling comes alive through the beauty of the natural world,” said Bill Diercksen, senior vice president and general manager, Disney Vacation Club. “Inspired by Walt Disney’s lifelong admiration for the great outdoors, this resort will offer our members and guests an opportunity to reconnect with nature while creating cherished family memories at Walt Disney World Resort.”

The resort will celebrate nature through the lens of Disney animation, drawing inspiration from films like Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear. Expect a design that reflects forests, water, and wildlife with artistic touches throughout the property.

This continues a growing trend of immersive storytelling at Disney resorts, where theme and environment are just as important as location.

Where Will Disney Lakeshore Lodge Be Located?

The resort will sit along Bay Lake, placing it in a prime location near Magic Kingdom.

This area already includes popular resorts like Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and Lakeshore Lodge appears poised to complement that rustic, nature driven theme while offering a more modern interpretation.

One major highlight is that select rooms are expected to offer views of Magic Kingdom fireworks, a feature that remains highly desirable for both guests and DVC Members.

What Types of Rooms Will Be Available?

Disney Lakeshore Lodge will feature 967 rooms, offering a wide range of accommodations.

Room Options Include:

  • Deluxe Studios
  • Spacious Suites (these possibly will be on the hotel side)
  • New Lake Houses (one and two bedroom waterfront units)
  • No specific mention yet of one, two, and three bedroom DVC villas

The introduction of Lake Houses is especially interesting. These units will sit closer to the water and provide more space, potentially becoming a premium booking category within the resort. From current views, we can see these are A framed shaped accommodations.

From a DVC perspective, this variety suggests strong flexibility for different travel styles, from couples to large families.

What Makes This Resort Unique?

Disney is emphasizing a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors and nature mixed with Disney Storytelling.

Key design features include:

  • Theming based around animal stories rooted in nature with nods to films such as Bambi, Brother Bear, and Pocahontas.
  • Floor to ceiling windows for natural sunlight
  • Views of local wildlife and landscapes
  • Architecture that blends into the surrounding environment

This aligns closely with Walt Disney’s own appreciation for nature, which continues to influence resort design decades later.

The tone here feels like a blend between the storytelling of Wilderness Lodge and the elevated accommodations of newer DVC properties.

What Do We Still Need to Learn?

Disney has confirmed that more updates will be shared over time, but several key details are still unknown.

Still to Come:

  • Dining locations and concepts
  • Recreational offerings and pools
  • Disney Vacation Club point charts
  • Booking timelines and sales details

These updates will likely shape how desirable this resort becomes within the DVC system, provided the plan is still to include DVC in this resort.

What This Means for Disney Vacation Club Members

For DVC Members, Disney Lakeshore Lodge represents a major addition in a highly sought after location.

Resorts near Magic Kingdom historically perform extremely well in terms of demand, and this one adds:

  • A fresh theme not currently duplicated
  • New room categories like Lake Houses
  • Strong potential for resale and rental demand

At DVC Fan, we expect this resort to generate significant interest once pricing and points are announced.
