Ring in the New Year at Top of the World Lounge

Top of the World Lounge

As we alluded to several months ago, Disney Vacation Club will again close down Top of the World Lounge on New Year’s Eve for a private member-exclusive party.

Ring in 2020 with your DVC family at the top of Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This exclusive member-only event runs from 10:00 pm to midnight at Top of the World Lounge, with guests enjoying a wide variety of refreshments and taking in one of the best views for Magic Kingdom’s New Year’s Eve fireworks.

The event includes:

  • Assorted cheese, charcuterie, and desserts
  • Alcoholic beverages including beer, wine, and a special themed cocktail
  • A commemorative keepsake
  • A celebratory toast to ring in the New Year

The event costs $119 per person (ages 3 and up), plus tax and gratuity. This payment is due at the time of booking via credit card.

New Year's Eve Party

Based on the feedback that occurred from this year’s Fourth of July party, DVC has modified the reservation process for this event:

  • Members with existing reservations at Bay Lake Tower for December 31st can book beginning Friday, October 18th, 2019, at 9:00 am, EST.
  • Any remaining spots will be made available to all Members on Friday, October 25th, 2019, at 9:00 am, EST.
  • Parties are limited to a Member and five guests, for a total of six individuals per reservation.

Reservations can be made by calling Member Services at (800) 800-9800 when your booking window opens.

DVC has also stated that additional viewing options will be available over the New Year’s holiday for guests choosing not to attend this private event:

  • On Monday, December 30th, Top of the World Lounge will be open and available to all members with a reservation at Bay Lake Tower.
  • On Tuesday, December 31st, the observation deck area at Top of the World Lounge will be available for members staying at Bay Lake Tower beginning at 5:00 pm for the 6:30 pm showing of Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks. The area will close following the conclusion of the fireworks display.

Please note, this event is considered a Disney Vacation Club – Membership Extra and can only be booked by direct members with a valid blue membership card.

Let us know in the comments if you plan to attend and what you think about these new exclusive events at Top of the World Lounge!

Unfortunately there’s not enough room or seating, and not enough bar tenders on a regular night, why pay more for a bad situation!

Well, I was a massive critic of the debacle last time, it was a disgrace. And this event is not family friendly, kids don’t eat charcuterie or drink beer, and it gets awfully expensive. Also shutting out people booked into BLT with no notice, the whole thing was shocking.
This time though I am less critical. It’s open to those staying at BLT first (albeit no notice unless you look on boards or the website) and it’s unlikely younger kids will be going up at 10pm anyway. They also kept it open earlier. I’m not sure I’d want anything to eat at 10pm if I were attending, but this impacts much less on those staying at BLT and the regular guest.
