When you book a DVC resort reservation, you have the option of placing a room request. This can be a request for a certain building, floor, or location within the resort. Since they are merely optional, are room requests worth it?
Worth It
There’s Nothing to Lose
You really have nothing to lose by placing a room request. There’s no charge to place one, and it doesn’t take much time or effort to make one. You can make a request by calling or chatting with Member Services or Disney, faxing the resort, emailing via the Help & Contact section of the DVC website, or via the online check-in in My Disney Experience.

You Have a Chance to Elevate Your Vacation
One of the best parts of a DVC villa is the balcony. Putting in a request is a chance to get a great view and truly enjoy time relaxing on the balcony, whether it’s a partial theme park view, partial savanna view, or simply a nice pool view. Similarly, a location request can make a difference in the amount of time it takes to get around a resort. Kidani Village is notorious for its long hallways, so being close to the elevators can be a big perk when you have a long day at the parks.
Not Worth It
Requests Are Not Guaranteed
Room requests are just like any other requests. They are not guaranteed to be fulfilled, so it’s best to manage your expectations. If you are going to feel disappointed or unhappy if that room request isn’t fulfilled, making a request is probably not worthwhile.

You May Need to Wait Longer for Your Room
On check-in day, many people are anxious to get into their rooms as early as possible. If you are waiting for a specific room request to be filled, you may end up waiting longer to get your room. However, if you made your request via My Disney Experience using the drop down menus, you can check off a box to say that you prefer to prioritize getting the first room that is available over fulfilling your room request.
For the most part, the pros outweigh the cons when it comes to DVC room requests. If you’re looking for tips for room requests, be sure to read Amy’s article next.
